I recently bought the Casio DW-290-1V, the strap does take a bit of getting used to. I replaced the original resin strap with a replacement strap from a Casio Calculator (CA-53W-1Z) Watch. I also thought that this was discontinued, but brand new units are now readily at my local Casio Retail Shop (maybe they are just getting rid of their dead-stock). Yes, I am still going to get a few back-up pieces just in case Casio discontinues the model again.

I bought this a couple of years ago & swapped out the plastic strap for a colour matched NATO. Wears a lot more comfortable & looks a lot better!😎 Great watch btw!👍🏼

Great video 👍 I do like the Mission Impossible films, but I prefer the DW5600 as it is less bulky and has a more resolved design, I believe it was worn in Speed too 😁

These were discontinued in September 2015. It is surprising to a point, that they are still available, sometimes at extremely inflated prices. I was lucky enough to grab one from an A.D. for $35.

Green writing lasted a few months, before being completely worn out. Not a big issue to me the rest seems great. It doesn`t automatically adjust to summer/winter time and I wish I could change position of months and day on watch face as in UK we have day/months/year as atypical format.

Yes, this happens. If you ever buy another one, have a look at the tip on my comment here. 3 years, and the print is still perfect.

I'm wearing it right now ! I swapped the strap for a green silicon to match the print colour, had to adapt it a little, but it's more comfortable than the original. Here's a tip for people who want to keep the printing on the case pristine as it can wear off. Get some frosted clear nail polish, maybe your wife or girlfriend has some already. Make sure it's not the shiny one Gently apply some, just one swipe only over the print itself and leave it for a good few hours to be sure it's dry and you have an invisible barrier that will ensure the print never fades or rubs off. Excellent review as always. This is one of my favourite watches, definitely one of the coolest watches from Casio. I bought it before knowing the Mission Impossible link so now it feels even cooler !

This is one of my favorite watches. SO much so that I own two of them. One to wear , and one as backup incase the first one dies and I can't buy a 2nd one. That's how I roll ;)

It's a classic, my favorite goes to the M:i-2 G-Shock DW6900 paired with my Romeo 1's! I play the M:i theme on my ukulele, it's impossible not to play haha. I love this watch for the ability of the strap size being 18mm. I own a two piece nato that i swap out time to time.

This is the best casio ever i tell you why the date alarm light system and the timers as well however i dont used to often because is to good unless something came up i got the dw291 to do hes job.

I have one , use it daily for 20 years, few band and battery replacements and still going. But I will not trust the waterproofing no more even with me replacing the rubber gasket few years back.

Had one since around '98, that one still ok but display a bit washed out. Got another one around '15. Love the 90s techno goth style. Although my daily these days is the splendid Casio Duro the dw290 still get a bit of wrist time.

I really like this watch but it's much to large for my wrist. I instead purchased the Casio G-Shock 5610 with the negative display and also the positive display version. Both are excellent watches having multiband 6 and are solar powered. They have everything I need in a watch and are good value for money imo.

Throw a brick in the air and it will more than likely land on a G-Shock , unlikely it will ever land on a 290 !!. I've owned mine for donkeys years and have never seen one on a wrist out in the wild . If you are adept with a craft knife buy cheap 22mm FKM rubber straps off ebay etc and notch the corners out to fit the lug width , looks and wears far better than on a 19mm Nato 🙂.
