I've bought 2 Silver Faced Moon type Sekonda Watches for £30 each at Amazon ! The thing that impresses me is the Mecha Quartz Movement. The second hand sweeps like a mechanical watch, but it's a Quartz Battery Powered Watch ! It isn't the one in your Video ! That one has a normal Quartz Movement with a one second sweep. My Sekonda has 3 small dials but no Date Box ! The left hand dial shows the DAY. The Centre Dial is a Timer for the Stopwatch. The Third Dial shows the Date (but I don't know how to set the correct date) There is no mention of What movement is inside the Watch. I looked it up on Google to find out about the Mecha Quartz Movement. It's really Impressive !

I have a suggestion for a future category: “Non - NH movement.“ NH 34 and 35 and 36 movements have been a boon for the affordable watch industry, but they are so common, and so marginally accurate or inaccurate that at least for me there is fatigue about those movements. Accuracy is a key component for me, and I understand that that is a Japanese mindset as well. I agree with that mindset. Solar power has been so perfected along with quartz movements, where accuracy is superb for often less money that in my mind, they are preferential. I also love the citizens Miyota movements. They are largely dependable and accurate. Some people claim that they can hear the winding of the movement. I have pretty good hearing and I can’t hear that. And if I did, it would not bother me. It would be the sound of a watch, winding or winding itself. If a watch, winding sound annoys you, then you’re in the wrong hobby. Anyway, mom suggested categories, would be somewhere along the lines of accuracy, none, NHA movements, solar, readable, date, windows, and the cherry on top would be readable date windows along with readable day windows.

Enjoyable and informative video. Re: GMT category, if you wanted to nominate a Timex, I'd have gone with the auto expedition GMT or the Timex James Brand (true) GMT.

A quick note about the Addiesdive Tuna! I have one in Blue. The lume lasts all night for me! 6+ hours. Maybe there is some ambient light getting in but I am blown away by the length of time the lume lasts! Also is it possible to get a 'nod' towards your ebay ? Thanks for all the reviews!

Best homage is wrong choice imo..i own it and just like the one featured here, the logo is off center n also slightly lopsided😒 To notice one only has to drive a line straight down from the bottom tip of the 12 marker. Once seen,u cant unsee it n frankly it sucks, being such a prominent feature.

8:25 Sorry but it's clearly a homage of the Swatch Irony Scuba from the late 90s/early 00's. I don't mind the fact they copied it, just don't lie about it being original work. 🤷‍♂️

San Martin blue dial is not "inspired by Chinese porcelain"... Is blatant copy of Straum Jan Mayen 😂 as usual from San Martin, zero design IP

This gotta be rage bait..... It's not even that close, the San Martin dial is infinitely closer to Chinese jianzhan pottery. You're just trying to find things to hate.

A very Happy Christmas and happy new year. The biggest surprise was a Quanqin sub with the flume/linen dial in Green I picked up for £34. Solid piece, all the usual specs and flawless. Running at 1 sec/ day with a Seiko NH. I have the Seestern diver as well in blue, stunning watch.

Can’t go wrong with Addiesdive and Steeldive. These Chinese watches now, are as good, if not better than most of the ‘big’ names on the market for accuracy and almost quality, imho.

I'm not sure if Pagani GMT deserves to be on the worst list. $150 total with vat is not that bad for NH34. And it looks nice and fresh compared to overused pepsi and polar explorer. Not many choices if you want a gmt without cyclops. My worst 2024 purchase was Cronos BB58. Total disaster. Broken clasp pin, very bad out of the box regulation, very misaligned bezel that moves so stiff you almost need pliers to use it, very poor lume and so thin and uneven you see dark spots even without glow. I read many good opinions and now won't even consider another one from them.

@Sicarius888 Once PD GMT dropped under $130sh sales really picked up, which makes sense - it is a good watch after all. At $200 though it is not so great :-) Sorry to hear about your cronos experience, the reviews I've seen seem to be good. I think I need to get one for review at some point.

@@ShinyThings The worst was dealing with the store and ali customer support. Unhelpful stonewalling and running around in circles pretending they don't understand the issue or that everything is fine, demanding more and more photos and claiming they aren't good enough to show the problems. I eventually got a tiny partial refund and people told me these days getting anything is a big win. Maybe they aren't all bad, but I'm not trying again after this disaster. Next good sale I think I will try with San Martin. Should have picked it instead back then, but the allure of PT5000 vs NH35 was too strong.

I think that they originally had AR coating, I bought a V3 not long after they were released, it has a subtle blue tint visible in some lighting conditions. A very well finished watch, excellent value and one of the nicest bracelets available at the price. I think both their Doxa homages are excellent for the money. Better than similarly priced Japanese watches by a long way if you don't mind the borrowed design.

I'd never of Doxa when I first saw this watch, I had a couple of Invicta watches with SW200 movements and a couple of Seiko divers and a Heimdallr Captain Willard homage with an ETA 2824-2 movement. I was really impressed with the Seestern, finishing is as good as the much more expensive Seiko divers, even the clasp, they could have used a heavier one to help balance out the watch head. I have the silver dial version and it always gets complements. One of my favourite budget brands, although I've noticed that you should probably wait for the V3 to iron out any niggles. I was so impressed with the Sub 300t that I also bought the Sub 600t which is every bit as good. The lumed date wheel is a really nice touch. The lume, I'm not a massive fan of BGW9 but considering it's applied directly to the dial, no chunky indexes to load up with lume here, it is reasonable. All round a very solid watch, after 3 years it's still absolutely spot on.
