I'm on my 4th Norwegian Forest cat, and I couldn't disagree with your video more! These are the best cats in the world! Their coat takes very little maintenance as they only molt in Spring. They've shed far less than my three short-haired cats. These cats are incredibly laid back and adaptable to any situation! I've traveled from coast to coast with mine, and they've never made a peep! These cats are very social and get along with humans and other cats. These cats are not your standard sleep all day cats. These are very athletic, playful cats, so make sure you have toys to keep their attention. I would recommend getting a pair if you are not going to be home much. These cats will reward you with loyalty like you have never known😻

We rescued our senior Norweigian Forest Cat and it was by far the most rewarding and best decision we've ever made. They are so loving and almost human like with their personalities. They love to vocalize and talk to you while you pet them. They will literally walk you to the liter box to clean it out, or to their food bowls when they are empty. These guys are brilliant hunters and they love to sit on your lap for scratches and naps. I can't say enough about these gentle giants. They are so under appreciated!

My Norwegian Forest Cat, is the best of the many breeds I have had, and I never want another breed. They are spectacular. Mine only sheds once a year, his winter mane and ruff and guard hairs and no one is allergic to him. He is very dog like, people comment on this. He walks on a leash exactly like a dog, and also follows many, many voice commands. They are very intelligent and dont reach maturity until around 5. Mine is not vocal at all, he chirps. He is 13, and is still learning new tricks. Most amazing breed ever. Read the comments here, everyone says they never want another breed once you have been blessed with a “Magical Fairy Cat”, as they are called in Norway.

My neighbour has a Norwegian and omg I always need to help him off my roof 😂. Now looking to get one too 🤷‍♀️ for against all the drama the sweet nature of this breed compensates ❤️

I have a Norwegian forest cat, and it's amazing how accurate this is, but you played the positive traits down. In a lot of ways they're so much much better than other cats. Not for everyone, but for me the good traits outweigh the 'negative' (for me they're insignificant) traits by a huge margin. One thing you need to consider is your people and your situation. I'm sure they all have different personalities, but my cat hates noise and chaos way more than any other cat I've ever had. Don't neglect the 'need a calm environment' point when considering these guys for the sanity of the cat.

I have a Norwegian Forrest Cat. He is well mannered and does not shed a lot of fur. In fact, there are two other cats he currently lives with and he sheds less than the both of them combined. He grooms himself and I really don't have much grooming to do with him. All the comments you have pointed out consists of EVERY CAT. Most all cats like to be up high. Cats love to play. I got lucky in the fact my cat "Curious", is not afraid of dogs. He's actually not afraid of anything. He is affectionate and does get bored easily. Then again, just like another cat, they love to play. I do admit, he is quite large and he's only 9 months old. He has huge paws and I'm sure he'll grow to be as big as a 1 year old child. Cats are in general, independent. That's why I prefer cats over dogs. Cats are in fact trainable. I'm sure if someone would try to hurt me , Curious would protect me. That's how much he loves me. I am a proud owner of a BIG, Beautiful Norwegian Forrest Cat.

We used to think our Norwegian Forest Cat wanted a friend, so we adopted a little tabby cat. They spent a lot of time together, but probably just as much time fighting as being nice with each other, but they were almost always in the same room. He was a lovely, lovely animal and want to get another one day.

Another difference between a long haired and short haired cat is what happens in the last few years of there life. Until about 16 or 17 taking care of Mona's coat was a joint effort between me and her. She loved to jump up on the car or something high and let me vigorously rub her down. Hair would float everywhere. Giant clouds of hair would float away, it was a sight. She loved it. We did it 2 or 3 times a week. Around 16 I noticed she didn't like it as much so I started being more gental. Eventually, I had to be so gental to the point that the rub downs were not effective in removing excess hair. Her hair started matting. I would cut some of the mats out myself and sometimes take her to the vet to be shaved. My sweet Mona passed at 19. The hair matting did not happen with my senior short haired cats.

This also happened with my Norwegian Forest Cat at age (about) 16. Not sure really how old she was - I found her at our local shelter. She had been picked up as a stray, in January, in Canada. Not only was she declawed, I’m sure she was mistreated because she hid in the closet for 6 months, didn’t purr for 3 years. She was my beautiful, loving, playful, constant companion for 10 years. Still miss my Princess Sophie (but, in all honesty, I don’t miss all the fur). Thanks for reading.

Our Norwegian decded to bring a humongus & very lively rat home to play with last night & not a single hair on it was harmed, we know that because it was a right carry on trying to catch it to throw it back into the woods at the end of our garden where she'd found it! The really annoying part is how the cat just lets the live rodents go in the house & sits looking at us with a 'isn't this fun?' look on her face.

YOU are full of it. I recently had to lay my Weegie to rest and after three months, I am still grieving her. I have had many cats in my life, all beautiful inside and out, but my Norwegian Forest was my friend! She was entirely different than any cat I have ever had and in ways which defy explanation. Intelligence through the roof, she even had empathy and compassion! She was a beautiful and loving heart and I would want everyone to experience having one of these treasures in their lives. Why have you posted up such a horrid video of untruths about these beautiful felines? YOUR WRONG in every way possible here. She never tore up anything, she knew not to stray off from me when we went outside ... even when she was stimulated to chase something. She cared about what I expected of her, she was THAT intelligent and most importantly ... CARING. I loved her and I loved grooming her, it was a moment of closeness and hearing her purr during those moments was heaven. Our home had seven cats besides her, and two very large German Shepherds and she loved the stimulation of all of her other friends. She was never alone and her temperament and disposition was incredible. She got along with all of them. ALL OF THEM. She became my best friend, our bond was deep, and I will miss her always. The only reason I can think of to not get a Norwegian, is that you will fall deeply in love with them, they will become your closest friend, and you will GRIEVE HORRIDLY when they are gone. I love her Always .... I miss you Kaleesi.

I agree with all your discouragements of owning a Weegie. It is quiet here since I am a retiree. There is plenty of space in the house and he is free to go outside any time.. which is not often. He is just happy with having that option and comes back soon. He seems rather happy sharing me with the three other cats of the house. Each takes turns on my lap or in my bed. "Ouija" never chases any of them away.. but they give his space great respect. A gentle giant for sure.

@@joetamson4054 I hove only been taking care of my Ouija for a little more than two years since he came to my back door. He was a fixed male.. and near death when I found him. Since his recovery, I have NO qualms about letting him roam.. or even disappear for a couple days. I am his human now. He never comes home with more than some burrs.. which he hates and will be home soon to remove before they get as solid as those that soaked him in the first place.. The Norwegian Forest cat's fur is SO deep and full, that when grown out.. he is almost impenetrable by an ordinary cat. Your Weegie will not come home hurt, unless it is hit by a car or bicycle or something else inorganic. Mine obviously slipped from an owner who was vacationing in our area.. and had no idea what about surviving in this environment... any more than your or I would.

Yep. My brother had a single Norwegian forest cat, and he was someone who liked to go traveling a lot, so the cat would just get a friend to visit once a day to feed him and cuddle him a bit, but he never showed any signs of being bothered by being left alone so much.

Nonsense. Our late Snow was a retired show cat (hearing blue-eyed white) who came to live with us when we already had a mix of 3 other purebreds. He very quickly figured out that he was the biggest and the strongest so he set himself up as Boss Cat almost immediately. He was very territorial about me for some reason, if the self-designated My Cat (Max the Somali) was anywhere near me Snow would literally push himself between Max and me. He also was a terrible pillow hog; I would often wake up with my head just below my pillow with him on it because he had crowded me off. True about the tall cat trees; we had 2 multilevel 6 footers that all 4 of them would use. Snow and Max would all of a sudden race each other up the one tree; Max would always win because he was lighter and had much longer legs.Snow would also get on the level of one tree that was eye level to the humans, knowing that he would get LOTS of attention.

But he doesn't like to be brushed after a certain point and then he gets pissy about it so at that point he's gonna have to get Shaved unfortunately. Other than that I'm getting in trade. I mean it can be good to warn people of common complaints, to avoid people getting a cat they can't care for just because it's cute-- and then abandoning it or neglecting it. So if a con is "they need grooming once or twice a week" then someone can decide for themselves if that's something they want to do. I know someone who got a Sphynx because they didn't want to spend time on grooming-- and that cat requires more grooming (baths, lotions, etc.) than any Wegie I've known.

I have a 1 year old norwegian forest cat and i just rescued a domestic male cat off the streets. He's also around 1 year old but he's not sterilized. My resident cat is. It's been a month and she's not really accepting him. My Nissa was not socialized with other cats before. She is very socialized with humans and, while she's super independent and really wants her space and demands play and attention (but no touchy), she's not aggressive. Same with this bad boy we just randomly brought unto her territory, she's not aggressive with him (though she growls and hisses), but does not want him near at all. Not even to play from behind a door, where she can't see him. I know cats in general take a long time to adjust to other pets. A month is not a long time for them. But everyone is saying norwegian forest cats are good with other pets and now i'm just wondering if my Nissa is just a princess (she is quite spoiled), maybe 1-2 months is not enough time or maybe it's because he's not sterilized. Anyone got any advice? I've already followed the online advice to introduce them with scents first, but whenever she sees him at her level she will start hissing and growling and running away (everything is ok if we hold him in our arms though, she trusts us we'll hold the beast away from her 😂).

I have a 70% Norwegian cat! She bascially lives in my mothers room! (yes my mother and father still sleep in that room) she has a friend whos a minx and ragdol mix. Thye cuddle lots together! But my 70% Norwegian cat hates being in my mothers room without my minx & ragdol mix. Due to loneliness/etc. So she cries lots alone. And my minx & ragdol mix has the same problem just she would go in and then 1 second later she starts crying(meowing) but if u want any type of a cat that can be big and want to stick to you but you dont want a lot of hair. Maybe try getting a 70% or below Norwegian cat. And another thing is my 70% Norwegian cat liked to lay in a basket full of "CLEAN" clothes. Dont know why. But she likes it. Anyways thats it! You forgot something dealing with grooming. If the cat is mostly indoors, you should trim the hairy toes that are slippery on the floors in the house, causing kitties sliding to cupboards or furniture possible injury. So trim the paws.

I hardcore disagree. I have one and he’s the best pet I have ever had. He does shed I can confirm, but he’s a lap cat and he’s incredible with my 3 year old. Can also confirm the separation anxiety, but it just shows that he genuinely cares about his family. He definitely doesn’t tear anything up though. I think this video isn’t entirely accurate because not all of them are the exact same. Cats have their own personalities. Mine also doesn’t like high places. He’s way too scared to go on the top portion of his cat tree. I went to a cat rescue center and I picked my cat based off of his incredible personality. I wouldn’t let a video like this effect your judgement because my Norwegian forest cat is the best family pet ever.

Thank you for your video, you helped me to understand our Mr Ringo a bit better. He loves interacting with humans, but not other cats. He spent a solidarity life with no other cats around until he came to live with us and wants nothing to do with other cats. He is quite unhappy if other ctas are around. But humans he wants to be around on his terms. Recently we had a sale and he was in heaven. He greeted everyone as they came up the driveway and stayed in the thick of things the entire time. Even converted a few people that didn't like cats....lol I felt bad for him after the sale was over, he kept heading back out to the driveway looking for more people, but none was to be found. I felt like chopped liver...ha !!

My Norwegian Forrest cat is the most lovable and loyal cat. She sheds normally. Her fur is gorgeous, the cat has three different types of fur layers if you own one and pay close attention to them. Theres the undercoat, the regular coat over that, then the fine random hairs thatre definitely stand out. Then theres the bib, which is the thick coat around their neck, this I find she has difficulty grooming, as this is where she sheds the most. She weighs 23 pounds. She isnt fat. Shes shy around people until she gets used to them. She loves other cats and her dog lol she does talk and her talk is so delicate, and she does show you what needs addressed. I found this part of the video accurate. They do require attention, theyre like teddy bears. They do get zoomies too. They love to be where you are, and are super in tune with their human. I would recommend them to those who are super loving, and really love cats. They do like companionship from humans and other cats. They get attached, their feelings do get hurt if you dont pay attention to them. Theyre not your feed them and forget them cat. No cat should have to endure that kind of treatment. If you want a cat that loves you unconditionally, and is always excited to be with you, then this is the best cat for you ❤

I think brushing 3 times a week is low, any long haired cat should get brushed basically everyday! You can’t always see the tangles, and you’d be brushing your own hair every day :-)

number 8 that i would add is that they speak a lot. and i mean a lot. and when they speak they want something and it is not clearly understood what they actually want. it is for the people with patience to find out. it may a certain door they want you to open for them or it can be they want you to take a walk in the forest for 45 minutes. it takes time to learn. if no patience - get something else as a pet.

Norwegian forest cat owner 1. Brush your cat, clean the hair. OR just shave them to short hair to prevent any knottage in the hair. 2. Idk just hangout with your cat more or get another cat 3. Get another cat, it's worth it having 2 baby bears 4. Bruh it's a cat of course it's gonna climb 5. Shave em short hair, no knots and they won't get their long hair stuck in their mouths. I've shaved my baby boy down to 1 inch hair and I haven't had any hairballs and he hasn't got a single knot in his hair and he's a happy boy, i got him sweatshirts to keep him warm too 6. Ain't no way. My cat will sleep on my chest any chance he gets and he follows me around meowing and screaming for me to touch him and hangout with him constantly 7. Instead of kids just get a big kitty :)

1. coming does not help. it WILL get into knots whatever you try to avoid it and you must shave it off even if the cat likes it or not. 2. true. if it is an outdoor cat the skogskatt may cry like of anxiety everytime they enter the house to see if you are still there, even if the cat only been outside for 10 minutes. 3. true. i adopted my mums skogskatt when my mum died, and the cat is till wake up screaming after nightmares and she only was partially alone (with her grumpy cat "brother" for 2 weeks). 4. true. expect to find your cat on the roof. often. does not matter if it is your car or house. 5. may be true if the cat will be kept in a one kubic meter area all the time. otherwise see #1. 6. it is a cat - cats choose themselves just as you and I do. make them come to you and do nopt try to force them. success. 7. like all cats. obsolete point. no one like screaming children, not even their parents.

I just had to put down my Norwegian forest cat because of mouth cancer. He was a great cat my first cat that I ever got and he was an incredible companion and friend. He lived to be almost 16 years old. I don't mind KZbin videos, but I don't believe everything people put out cause there are a lot of people that don't know what they're talking about on these KZbin channels and there are some that are very knowledgeable and want to impart knowledge you have weed through the crap and find channels where people know what they're talking about.

This is absolutely not true 😮 unbelievable. Wedgies are the most sweet natured, independent, resilient wonderful companion animal that will be your best buddy! He will wait at your garage when you come home and these cats are very special and spiritual, deeply connected with nature. They love watching sunsets. I will never forget when i received my first gift from my Wedgie. It was lily flower leaves that he had found somewhere outside, it was so fragrant and sweet, i will never forget waking up to that fragrance. I couldn’t believe the wonderful gift my baby brought me. This breed of cats are life changing ❤

One of these cats was abandoned 🤷‍♂ On my farm. I had no idea that it was specific breed until now. I thought he was just Bob. What a survivor. He wouldn't come in, and stayed away from us for a year. I have three other cats, and two of them were abandoned. Bob is really good at killing small animals. 😳
