I have to say I watch most videos on the internet..Janek gwinzdala joe Hubbard, Scott devine and many others. But this is becoming my favorite channel. He always has great exercises to do.

Yes, there's more focus here and less show, all the ones "you" look and listen to are great musicians anyhow.

@@OnlineBassCourses a KZbinr who is producing guitar lessons at a similar level and frequency as you do bass lessons. I was wondering if you might have a recommendation.

Could you elaborate Dan on the instances you wouldn’t play the root on each chord changes as you briefly mentionned? When I play with various backing tracks I do find it kinda boring to always have the root as the first note on each chord change.. How do you approach this?
@OnlineBassCourses Жыл бұрын
I nearly always hit the root on stuff like this although you can play the 3rd or 5th of the chord too. It’s ultimately down to personal preference and what sounds good to you. But don’t forget that most band mates (and listeners!) want to hear the root and that’s your job.

I'm a guitarist turned bassist. I feel like as a bassist, I'm stuck in a cage with playing root, 3rd and 5th and the occasional 7 and 9.... anyone have any tips or advice on breaking free?

Learn the key of the piece of music - usually major or natural minor. But also the modes which figure a lot. Learn how the scale and chord relate then use both!
@davidreineke1758 Жыл бұрын
Good video. It’s actually the key of G though.
@OnlineBassCourses Жыл бұрын
G major and E Minor are related keys. Since the first chord is Em and I’m focusing on E Minor, the key is E Minor not G major.

Hi Dan, thank you for your videos I am binge watching the videos. Not sure if it my place to request videos but..... could you do a video about how to play bass in a ukulele band.
@OnlineBassCourses Жыл бұрын
Thanks, Paul! That’s a bit out of my experience but, honestly, it’s the same principle. Hold down the low end and play in time.
