I watched the first half and start of the second half of the All Blacks France game at a buddy's house in 1999. Halftime I got in my car celebrating my Superbru prediction, by the time I got home the French had won the game. It was upsetting.

Before the tournament, I was saying that Australia could plausibly finish 3rd in the tournament or 3rd in the pool.

En la RWC 2007 jugado en Francia, Argentina gano el partido inaugural (que es el que se ve aqui) y luego Argentina compitió nuevamente con Francia por el tercer puesto ganándole nuevamente y obteniendo el tercer puesto. Creo que esa debió haber sido la verdadera anécdota.

Nop, hardly an upset. Prior to RWC 2007, Argentina was recognized as the most-improving union thanks to great players like Pichot, Corletto, Ledesma, Roncero, Albacete, Contempomi brothers, Aramburu (rip). So the pool was an expected competition with Ireland and France

What i love here is that there’s several games that are claimed as the greatest upset in RWC history until we get to the famous Brighton Miracle. Maybe one day we’ll see another shock result that even tops that! I can’t even imagine who would play or how good that game would be

Wales vs Fiji was a great game - generally thought the best of that tournament. But, as a Welshman, I'd quite like to see the result go the other way this time - please 😃.

France NZ was one of the finest games I have ever seen. It is tragic with all the rule changes we will never see games like that again. It is all about keeping it tight now and low percentage risk now.

I don't think those qualify. The opening game was always going to be an even battle. Australia might have had a touch more quality (maybe), but South Africa had home support. In the final, obviously most people thought NZ had it in the bag, but there is a tendency to overrate a great attacking team and to underrate a great defending team. NZ was a touch better in those days, as indicated by their results against South Africa in 1994 and 1996, but those results do show that any margin between them was pretty small. Consider, too, that South Africa had just bested France, who in turn had recently swept a series in NZ, and then take into account the home support and the moment of history (and yes, the illness), it wasn't a massive shock.

You finished with the French beating the All Blacks in 1999. Funny how there was no mention of the eye gouging or biting by the French. For myself, this game will always tarnish my respect for the French. But cemented the comradary between Australia and New Zealand when the All Black players went into the Australian camp showing the war wounds that the French inflicted. Fore warned, as John Eales threatened to take his side off the paddock as the French were using the same tactics against the Aussies in the Final. God defend New Zealand!!

Was Samoa over Wales in 1991 really the first victory by a non-seeded team over a seeded team? What about Fiji over Argentina in 1987? Did that pool only have one seeded team (NZ), and the tournament only seven?

World Rugby propaganda channel. They have made certain that they have kept the PI down. Recent rule changes to a 5-year period for residency and allowing players to represent their country of birth/heritage a start but should only be a one-year standdown if going from a tier 1 country to a tier 2 country. Also, this new 12 team comp which will shut out Georgia is a massive middle finger to those outside of the 'club'.

Strongly agree with @AgentMoray, the boks had one job, Morne Steyn missed a kick for touch, Japan got the ball back and scored a late try, no politics involved there🤷🏽‍♂️ Because the same so called politics that you @moonstone3578 say cost us 2015, also won us the 2019 RWC😤
