Oh wow what a gorgeous rose garden. Thank you for those wonderful tips. I have started a rose garden but am so disappointed with the growth. Some rose bushes are lush and pest free. Others are scrawny with black spots. I am hesitant to use sprays that are harmful to the environment. Will follow your tips and pray that I will be rewarded with beautiful roses. Love from 🇿🇦

Thank you very much for the tips. Your roses are so healthy, lush, and beautiful. I noticed you used pebbles as mulch. Is it bc you like to walk over them or are they better than wood chips? Thank you
@AmritaBhortake2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much, Melissa for your kind words. I adore roses. I wanted pebbles because I wanted to create a modern cottage garden look to the garden while also helping in mulching the soil and reducing weeds. It was my first time trying out pebbles as mulch and I have been really happy with it. Would definitely recommend if you like the look.

Could you please explain or perhaps do a video on the neem oil solution for pest control? How do you prepare it and how often do you spray it on the rose plants? (I have felt the leaves usually turn lifeless and as if the pest problems worsen after using neem oil spray. So, I have concerns about using it. Perhaps I am doing it the wrong way?)
@AmritaBhortake2 жыл бұрын
Rahul, it might be that you are spraying the neem oil in full sun or that you are not emulsifying the neem oil to properly mix it with water. Try spraying early in the morning before the sun comes out and emulsify the solution really well. I would be happy to make a detailed video on how I use it. I will try to get it out in the next couple of weeks. Keep the notifications on so you can be notified about it.

What a gorgeous garden! I apologize if this was already asked, but is the rose tree at the very end of the video perfume breeze? I am looking for a rose that can handle a shady area like yours. Thank you!

Thanks so much for your kind words. That is a Renee cascading rose. That corner during summer gets about 6-8 hours of sunlight so it's not completely in shade. What kind of rose are you looking for?

@Amrita Bhortake It is absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for letting me know. A repeating climber for zone 8. We are hot and dry with a long blooming season. It's an area on my side yard by my brick fence.

Thanks Susan. Here are a few options for your zone 8, shady location and repeat climbing David Austins - James galway, The Pilgrim, Generous Gardener, Lady of Shallot and Gertrude Jekyll. Let me know if you have any questions.

Fabulous! I have James Galaway, but he's already planted in a sunny location. I've heard great things about Lady of Shallot. Seems to be an easy-going rose that is happy anywhere. I'd like to look into Generous Gardner. Thank you so much for your help.
