Unconditional love is somewhat tricky tbh, there is a thing that you expect your partner to do and you communicate those things to your partner, but somehow if they don't work on it or don't do it for you, you may feel quite distanced. And even if you chose to love them equally without holding any grudges, that resentment of your partner not doing something for you will build up, then somewhere love becomes conditional. And I feel little bit of conditional love is also fine, otherwise one only gets taken advantage of.

Edit 2: He's since contacted me after ghosting me, explained everything. I'm no longer mad at him but I am never trusting him with my heart ever again. Edit: Most of this aged like milk. Not all of it; just the parts about him being my Heartmate... everything else I still stand by. -------------------------------- This is probably the most cliche statement ever but I speak from experience: Become best friends first. Virtually nothing changed between my Heartmate and I since we started dating. We have been basically flirting even before we were official and that's because we were so comfortable with eachother from being best friends. The only difference is the frequency and openness of our display of affection towards one another. Another tip is to take it slow, don't jump in with both feet like my Heartmate and I did the first time we dated five years ago. We hadn't seen eachother for years until I moved in with my mom and we just kind of fell in love HARD but it was too soon; he proposed to me not six months later and I never realized just how not ready I was. Long story short: We had to break up, we both had to grow, and now here we are as if we never parted ways and yet it's stronger than ever thanks to the time needed to mature. We've still got alot to learn but perhaps one day we'll be ready to be engaged again 😊

I kinda disagree with the arguments. With me and my girlfriend, we never really fight but that’s because of the Communication that’s important in every relationship. We never get to the fights because our conversations iron everything out. Everyone gets scared that me and my girlfriend are faking our relationship when I say we don’t fight, but we don’t hide thoughts that could start fights from each other. Like when she realized some crucial things about herself and she told me she wanted to bottle it all up. She didn’t because she values me more than hiding it and pretending it isn’t there. She just mentioned it and we talked. Nothing escalated. Arguments shouldn’t really need to happen in my opinion

@@bohlalemtati5622 it isn't an argument, it's a conversation. No we aren't together anymore, but that had nothing to do with our communication, more like she stopped showing that she valued me. I am dating someone else now and we also don't really fight. My current boyfriend says when people fight there's usually an element of winning the argument. He doesn't fight because he doesn't see any value in winning arguments, so again he just talks to me. And vice versa, if something happens that upsets me I always just mention it and he always thanks me for just saying it because fighting your way thru it doesn't always work for everyone. It's a discussion because we are both expressing our ideas without shutting each other out

I've just realised that this is what most of my relationships look like (and I don't mean romantic relationships only) from my perspective - when I like someone, I care about them, tell them what I think just so they know what do I expect from them. I have comfortable silences with them and all that stuff. The only problem is that that's only my perspective and people don't usually feel the same way about me. It's just like I think everyone deserves full love and understanding but when I finally get that, I'm so scared that it's just temporary that I mess up everything.

Hell yeah, I got the communication check mark. And on the topic of arguments, the only reason me and my partner haven't had one ( yet ) is because of there's something bothering us from the get-go, we have to say whats wrong and prevent resentments and that's the logic we both have when we disagree on something and then we figure out how to make it so we're both happy! Being in my marriage, I never thought I’d love trombone music but darn it, he’s an awesome trombone player! I totally dig it when he practices. And he loves it when I knit! Granted, both of us can’t pick up either of these skills from each other but we can appreciate the heart that goes into each of them.

Communication is so important. I’m a very good listener and find myself being the ear most people at work need to vent on their heart troubles. I cannot count how many times I think “you shouldn’t be telling me this, you need to tell your partner”, particularly to the people who have been in their relationships for 4+ years !! Communicate - and not in an attacking way that leads to fights. Calmly say what you feel, and then listen to what your partner has to say. You must put yourself in their shoes in order to understand. It’s necessary.

Great advice Lindsey! :) Thanks for sharing! Do you think it helps people to talk to someone outside of their relationship as well?
@lindseyb14455 жыл бұрын
Psych2Go Yes, definitely! I think communication can always be beneficial, I just believe that when it comes to issues or mattes of the heart that are in serious correlation to your level of happiness then it’s just as important to make sure you are saying this to the person who also needs to hear it the most.

Communication, and a lot of patience. We can’t ever truly be in each other’s heads, so communication. And yet, being frustrated by the other person, either when miscommunicating or they are seemingly being slow to understand, can be rough. Patience is really the key, to me.

Here’s something for the couples who don’t argue, like my boyfriend and I; Just because you don’t argue, doesn’t mean you’re being fake. It’s okay to literally have nothing to be mad about with eachother, or if you are, have a civil conversation about it. Insulting the other person in a fight is not okay. Yeah, we can disagree on really dumb things, but it is never a heated arguement. We find middle grounds and ways to improve what the problem originally was. And sometimes we’re only upset because we want affection from the other person, and once we tell eachother that, everything gets better. Like, obviously we know we love eachother, sometimes we just need a little boost of confidence. Of which, both of us have no problem providing. It’s okay to ask for help, guidance, and even support. Just don’t do it constantly, that’s when it gets unhealthy. If you rely on someone 100%, you need to take a step back and retrace your steps. Relationships are built on trust, not availability. If you have a reason to actually insult your significant other, theres something you really need to work out. Miscommunications and misunderstandings are the worst, which is why it’s important to state what you are and are not comfortable with in the first place. Never disrespect the other party’s boundaries. And you don’t have to spill every secret ever to them, either. Just make sure they know when you’re upset when you can talk about it civilly. If you’re too mad to think rationally, you need time to cool down. And thats okay, and your partner should respect that.

One of the most important things I realised throughout my relationship, is that both should be able to listen, give in and say sorry! It's ok to be misunderstood sometimes, people are diferent, even soulmates! The important thing is being so sure about one's personality and traits that no argument can really damage the couple! When someone values you for who you are and are willing to help you through life, by your side, there is nothing in this world that can put out this fire. Not even death, as I believe! 🌹The true one will never leave your side!❣️ ❤️The true one will come naturally!💕

Well, its better not argument in heat, but you have to speak out whats going on inside you, even when your going to cry! Every single one of these is 100% true. I've been with him for the last 7 years and it's on the other side of the planet! We took our time and I'm making the sacrifice for him and moving to his country since we'd be unable to have a family in my country. I'm leaving behind a lot and will probably be depressed after the first month but it'll be worth it and I know he'll help me adjust, show how much he cares, and thanks to the internet I don't have to lose my loved ones. After years of planning, checking out each other's countries, we figured out the best solution for both of us and it's a major compromise to finally have our happily ever after.
