I refused to pay the prices for those cable clips, so I just wedge one of the soft velcro ties behind a wire and stuff it into the T slot. works really well, then you just bundle the other cables into the rest of the velcro loop

I’m sure you’re going to love it. It’s something we even use on race car steering wheels that don’t have the best grip. I remember the old Audi steering wheel and even the first version of the AMG GT3 had Alcantara grip and it was terrible. We had to wrap it in tennis grip.

Thanks Daniel! The cable velcros are smart, i havent seen those before! Last year i bought a "wind sim", and its one of the best things when it gets hot in the sim.. So the fan option you mention is really a good and cheap choice!

Those velcro cable ties work great for inside the PC management too. When I built mine the other year that's all I used to keep everything tidy. Did a mix of black & gray ones just from Walmart, but I know most online retailers have them nowadays in many colors to match whatever you're using them for.

Headphone cable management ideia: I have bought a VR Pulley system and used it to hold my headphone cable. It doesnt look the prettiest the way I set it up but Oh boy does it work wonders! Guilty of the barefoot driving myself… although I don’t actually drive in real life, so it’s hard to apply the difference between real-world road car and sim there. The wind sim does not have to be expensive to be integrated with a rig setup; a bit of electronics knowledge and following tutorials can get you a speed-sensitive setup using computer fans and an Arduino to control them. All up it might be a bit more than $25, but not much more if you look online. But mostly I commented to echo the recommendation for the super clamps; I have a few on my rig for equipment like lights and button boxes. There are all sorts of adapters for the 1/8” or 3/16” threads, for example my custom button box was previously on a VESA mount (the same pattern as used on monitors). So I’m using an adapter from that pattern down to the thread, then a solid arm back to the clamp in beside the wheel. One other thing to note is that depending on their headset setup, people may want a second audio extension cable to run lines for both the headphones and the mic. Or if their headset and sound card uses the special TRRS connector (like you see on earbuds for mobile phones with a built-in mic) in to put both over one connection, that the audio extension cable supports that; otherwise, their mic may be cut off.

I've seen a few setups (both sim & real) with the tennis/baseball bat grip tape or even like a KT tape wrapped around the wheels and have always thought it looked super badass especially once it starts to get worn down a bit, like it tells a story. I've thought about doing a DIY sequential shifter and/or handbrake and using a wooden hatchet or hammer handle or part of a hockey or field hockey stick for it just to see how it wears & patinas over years of use it'd probably be so cool looking.

@danielmorad9 ай бұрын
That’s awesome to hear. I personally still like to wear gloves even over a nice grippy wheel. I still have a little bit of sweat because you’re constantly holding the wheel. In tennis, you have some brakes in between round to wipe your hands. In racing, you don’t really have that chance to wipe your hands, so I still love to wear gloves to give that extra grip

You go this deep into building a simulator to simulate real racing and you wear socks? That’s silly. I understand it’s your brand and you gotta push it, but it’s not very “sim” to wear socks. If it’s a cheap Logitech set up in front of your tv hooked up to an Xbox then whatever. But anything over 1k rig? You better have some shoes on. It’s probably more comfortable, but this is just my opinion.
