Regarding metal tape, I've used that in pretty much every project for either finishing, spot repair and even embossed accents. Def give a try.

Thanks for the tips and inspirations. Question: what thickness of tape do you use? It ranges from 2 to 6 mil. Is thin or thick better? Also, I've found that die cutting gives a slight roll to the edges, making them smooth and burr-free. I cut 2 of the same shape from metal and also cut the same shape from a sheet of 2-sided adhesive, sandwich the pieces together, and the final piece has smooth sealed edges. Great for small pieces like earrings and charms. Your demo of dimensional paint sparked an idea I'm working on some pendants that use embossed metal. I need a way to finish the edge that fills the gaps caused by the embossing. I'm going to try the paint on one, but also thought about using foundry wax.

I bought one of those devices to take the tops off of aluminum cans but they don’t work on the taller thinner cans like my soda water comes in. Just works on the regular size cans. 😢😢
