I used to live in Belitung Island, Indonesia, where people predominantly speak Belitung Malay. Belitung Hakka even absorbs Malay words, and lost its original Hakka vocabulary, such as we always say "sore" for afternoon. We don't usually use greetings such as "Good morning" or "Good evening" when we meet people; we simply greet them with their title or appellation. That's how we lost our vocabs. This is the first time I heard people say "Good afternoon" in Hakka. Really glad I found this channel. I have a question though, how do we say afternoon in Hakka. Is it "Mm". Let say how do we say, "I want to invite you to my house to have dinner this afternoon." "Ngai oi chiang nyi sit fan ..." I am lost... Thanks in advance, shin shang.

Afternoon in Hakka is "ha ciu", you probably mean dinner in the evening. In that case, evening is "am bu ja"

I think u can explain uncooked rice should be "mee" and cooked rice should be "farn". Hence: 1)Yit pow mee is one sack of raw rice. 2) Yit pow farn can be translated to mean one pot of cooked rice.
