Second, my disney replica of obi wan's aotc saber is anything but fragile, so while anyone able to build their own lightsaber should be praised, I wouldn't discredit the official product

😂😂 same here as i followed the how 2 get op in 25min in ds1 and tried 2 get the black knight halberd by backstabbing him.a few more trys later i killed him with a backstab and kicked him over the rim....but i didn't get the black knight's halberd because the loot was at the bottom of the abyss where i kicked him in and i couldn't get it.😂😂 all in all it just took me 8 times longer as it should.🤔 not bad for a noob,huh?👍🏻😎

Bloodborne’s saw cleaver, it’s a balanced weapon with decent scaling and really has a nice bonus against beast type enemies like most bosses, I only gave it up for rakuyo.

The Combat Shotgun from 2016's Doom is placed in your hands during the tutorial section and (with a couple of upgrades) doesn't need to leave for the rest of the game unless you run out of shells.

In Dark Souls and DS3 I spent my first playthroughs and several subsequent playthroughs playing the entire game with the uchigatana and grass crest shield. They're both found early in each game (although a lot of people missed it in DS1 because you have to kill the first merchant you're likely to come across), the uchigatana is crazy powerful early on and scales really well, plus it has a good moveset - medium-fast speed and it's really long and the grass crest shield gives you a static stamina boost. I also always pick deprived as my class because you start at level 1 with 10 in every stat so once you get past the first part running around naked with a club it pays off in the long run as your stats will be higher for your level.

People say that all the time but I'm my experience I had a str and dex build both over 40 by the end and I always felt like the Claymore or other great swords did more damage. I'm a part of thr Claymore club and love great swords. Beat the game that way despite having a dex build and choosing merc as my starting class

I have always wondered what the best weapons are I'm gonna be honest I still extremely new to the series in fact I only started playing souls games seriously for less then a year. I have beaten DS3 twice now both times using mainly the Claymore and if it can get me a beginner thru the game with only the nameless king and lord of cinders giving me a truly hard and frustrating time to the point of having to walk away and come back later then I would for sure say it's top tier

That's a really funny way to spell "the speeder bike level". You spend about 10 minutes driving past mooks, occasionally getting yeeted into the walls for no apparent reason, and destroying your speeder bike because you hit a piece of the ground's geometry at the wrong angle.

Actually, I did find it a nice throwback to our childhood Dark Forces days. Plus, force lightning means you still don't have to fire a gun And on the speeder level, you just had to switch weapons and you had your lightsaber again, read to bust Scout trooper heads

I actually really enjoyed force-yanking the E-11 from the hands of the first stormtrooper outside the cell and emptying it in his face. Then again I enjoyed using guns for a lot of the other gameplay, so I must be weird.

The Hunters Axe from Bloodborne was quite handy. You can choose it at the beginning of the game and it has great area sweeping attacks when fully extended

Actually, that reminds me of the Paper Mario games. Some of the partners Mario gets arguably have their best move right when they join up, without needing any upgrades. For example, Watt in Paper Mario 64: her Electro Dash attack is her only damaging move, but it’s the only one she’d ever need. It can hit enemies anywhere on the screen, ignores Defense, AND Watt is permanently electrified, meaning she can ignore enemies who use electricity to defend themselves. Then in Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, we have Yoshi and Vivian. Yoshi’s Ground Pound does less damage per hit than most attacks, but it hits like, 6 times in a row, and can be powered up with moves like Charge to just absolutely pour on the damage. Vivian’s Shade Fist can hit enemies anywhere on the screen AND inflicts the Burn status, doing 1 damage every turn, in a game where having 30 HP is impressive. Also, being basic attacks, all of these powerhouses are completely free to use!

To be fair with Dark Souls all of the starter weapons are viable throughout your whole run as long as you reinforce and infuse them throughout your playthrough. Sellswords are a lot of fun though.

This is a myth. The magnum was buffed right before the game went gold, but the Dev team knew they were buffing it, and had in fact been struggling to have the pistol find it's place in the sandbox for months. Everything related to it is intentional. Also the pistol's damage isn't what makes it a good gun, but rather the precision insta kill modifier on it, which was 100% intentional, and was there well before any damage buffs.

That's not so much the starters being level one nukes as the xp system getting borked if you don't try to spread it across six mons. You can beat the game with Rattata or Caterpie if you keep a ten level advantage over the enemies, and if you never switch Pokemon, that's exactly what happens by the second gym.

Fun fact with the M6D Magnum. It employs 12.7×40mm SAP-HE (semi-armor-piercing, high-explosive) ammunition. If you shoot it at a wall you'll see a tiny explosion just after the round hits.

That's not true at all. It wasn't powerful in any way. It was just the lowest tier of auto rifle with no perks. It did it's job but was immediately replaced once you got something even slightly better. The reason they made it into an exotic is because of how iconic it was. It's the first weapon everyone ever used. They made it an exotic to celebrate the game.

The original rifle in Call of Juarez: Gunslinger. The game so desperately wants the player to use a pistol throughout the game it automatically changes to it after every cutscene and there’s other pistols and rifles throughout every mission but the original rifle is a no-nonsense weapon that knocks the head off every enemy with one shot.

There's a now-dead game that I used to play called Moon Breakers, and one of the starter ships you could get, called the F-3 Mamba, was one of the best ships in the game. It's main gun was quite well balanced, and could do a pretty decent sustained barrage. The missile, even though it was unguided, also hit fairly hard as well, and was useful for taking out enemy missiles with it's remote detonation (We called it ret-det for short) ability. But where the Mamba shined the most, was in it's mobility. It could pivot around itself and any obstacles like the snake it was named after, and with the proper rhythm, it had an effectively infinite boost tank. Most commonly, I would use the ship in CTF matches, and I would be able to essentially negate the speed reduction that the 'flag' would cause. It was also really good at destroying enemy turrets on the enemy carrier, which would allow bombers to have a much easier time in Carrier Assault matches. And for the pvp fights of the third match type, where the objective is to kill as many players as you could? The Mamba could dodge through some really heavy crossfire.

In 2 it was a monster in its own right, especially before patches when dual wielding them could infinitely stunlock players (thanks to a stamina cost SO LOW that it would regen between swings). And to clarify, they didn't get nerfed, players just got infinite poise for a second after getting hit 3 times in succession, allowing them to roll out of combos.

I remember in Portal 2 Co-Op with my friend, there was one segment where one player presses buttons to manipulate a course and allow the 2nd player to progress through it. I messed up and accidentally killed him, then GLaDOS gave me points for "Teaching my partner a valuable lesson in trust". Later on in another course, my friend killed me in retaliation and GLaDOS deducted points from him for "Damaging valuable Aperture Science resources".

For less-know games, the magnet gun from Red Faction Armageddon is really powerful when used right. Also a lot of fun, when the big scary boss baddie keeps zipping across the room to and smacking into the walls, the ceiling, the floor, the huts, the large volatile power generators... The game also has mechs and guns and some guy as a protagonist, but the magnet gun is the star of the show.

oh, alpha protocol did it to a stupid extent with chain shot, pistols were already decent due to being accurate, but chain shot is bonkers op, you get a good amount of paused time to choose where to fire, allowing either clearing of entire rooms or insta-kills on bosses, and I believe it was the faster recharging ability in the game, especially if you got a bunch of hidden perks.

In the third in the beginning prince even makes a snarky joke about always getting stuck in a fight without a proper blade lol. Some how one one the people i had to sace always got stuck on a wall and died. I know you don't fail if one dies but honestly it was annoying because of how they died

In Jedi Academy you do need weapons occasionally. There's some droids with force shields, the ion gun is best for that. Also good to have a gun for those jetpack guys that keep moving away.

The Gravity Bomb is one of two weapons you start the game with in Ratchet And Clank 2: Going Commando. 1-upping the stopping power of the previous game's Bomb Glove whilst sacrificing a bit of range, the Gravity Bomb is capable of annihilating groups of tough enemies in a single shot. Not only does this make earlier levels significantly easier, it's also a great way to quickly level up the Gravity Bomb to the Mini-Nuke, which does EVEN MORE damage. The main downside is that the max ammo capacity of this weapon is 8, a piddly number compared to just about every other weapon in the game (save for the Zodiac, which is the single most expensive weapon in the entire game), and the cost to Mega-Upgrade the Mini-Nuke in New Game+ is also prohibitively expensive. Save up for this upgrade, and not only does the Mega Mini-Nuke receive yet another power boost, but the ammo capacity more than doubles to 20. Basically, never leave home without it.

I loved the taser in Syphon Filter. It had cross map range, best weapon for picking off enemies on roofs and its so fun to use. Just sit back and watch your enemy squirm around as 500,000 volts are frying their brains and sets them on fire if you hold it too long. Also great for breaking every piece of glass in the level which in late 90s was still pretty mind blowing to have environmental damage and it didn't get old.
