I got one: Save my strongest attacks for cinematic finishes or as a last resort. This means holding on to that limit break, do not pop that summon, do not use that Rage guage, and do not touch the Valor Surges unless you are about to finish the boss or if it is a last resort.

For me, well this applies to us older gamers. Read the introduction segment in the game manual before starting a game. I have no idea what started this habit, all I know is it helps me to become immersed. Edit! Secondly, Not wearing helmets or headpieces in RPG games, what? You thought I made a cool looking character to be covered up by a bucket!!

Another rule, "If a game has multiple endings, you have to play ALL of them", nowadays this can be circumvented with KZbin videos showing all endings, but it doesn't have the same impact if you don't make the choices that lead to those endings yourself (both for emotional impact and understanding the context behind the decisions that led to the ending).

#2: Admittedly... there is this LINGERING ISSUE with some sidequests... and that is if you progress the main quest too far, some side quests become unavailable. So for us COMPLETIONISTS (I use that word sarcasticly, even though I am one) if we want to get all the side content done, we HAVE TO do it before the main quest. Also... it''s easier to do that for levels than to level grind...

A self imposed rule regarding fast-travel I've started following in open world games is that I'm allowing myself to fast-travel from anywhere, one way, only to a place my character "Owns" in some way, like "Breezehome" in Skyrim for example, but once I'm there I have to manually walk anywhere else. This way I get the convenience of getting "home" quickly to resupply or store the endless junk I've horded in whatever game, while also walking the world much more. I honestly recommend it so much

Guess I break most, except doing every side quest before worrying about the main quest. Yet you forgot exploring the whole map in open world games. It's under an entirely different list, but there is also the testing of what you can or can't do, early on, like whether you take fall damage, does fire hurt, can you swim and so on.
@christinagavan95882 сағат бұрын
I'm 45 years old and my old rule was always read the manual on the bus before getting home to play the game, Now its like there's no manual, no actual physical game, and if you read anything that's made of paper its pretty much always a parking ticket, and then you get home and the game is about 2 years away from even being worth playing.

Love this list, I do all of this as well, with some exceptions for reading books/data enteries. For example, some of the books in Baldur's Gate 3 are just nonsense I don't even understand or I forget, so I just skim through it if it's interesting, and close it if it doesn't seem important. It is scary however if I get a quest update for reading it, then I go back to read it again, this time reading every word of it :)

It depends. I understand certain mentalities with maps and whatnot, but if you actually use the fast travel in Spider-Man and you're not trying to pop a trophy or work on a speedrun strat, I question your ability to experience joy.
@gio21303 сағат бұрын
There's 3 more for me, highlighting everything in the menu and inventory, I don't always read them but it irritates me having that "new" symbol next to data entries and items. Revealing every inch of the map, if I run down a hallway that only draws one wall onto the map I run back down it on the other side. And clearing every collectible in the area before moving on to the next area, it really annoys me having to back track cause I didn't have the ability or key to open a chest.
