I got help,! Eviction, and then rehab for 13 months! Half a year in a camping cabin! After that I got my own flat in my own name! Now I'm been sober 27 months! And I love my life! I paid all my debts, no more police, no social! No hangover, money in my pocket! Fresch home, good health, no alcoholic friends! I exercise, do long walks, I swim, I go biking! I enjoy life! It's terrible to be there at the position of daily black outs! Or nearly! For months in a row! If you say drinking is fun, you are really in denial! Many of my old drinking buddies are dead now!

Fabulous stuff Kevin. You are a top man, an inspiration and role model to me as I continue on my journey without alcohol (4 months sober) and I love that you are walking the walk, literally! Everything you say resonates with me. You are so honest, so down to earth and so obviously loving life without booze that your positive energy is awesome. I love your videos and look forward to them so please keep making them.

Thanks So much for the videos. Right now I'm "pushing through the discomfort". Not easy. Since I detoxed I haven't slept in 2 days and just felt really sad. I understand this can be part of the recovery process. Your videos have helped.

very touching video Kevin..I'm sober on and off for years..in my experience you really have to want sobriety...I'm a month sober again from pills and gat...I've no intention or interest in going at it again...I feel you have to relapse to learn that it's all part of the journey and the final line of actually getting to the stage that you want to be sober

They say only about 5% of drinkers that try and quit alcohol actually are successful. Well my plan is to be in the top 00.1% of those people, alcohol has nearly destroyed my life, I won't give this drug anymore power to do that to me any more. Feel great, 3 weeks in and don't miss it at all. There will be times when I have to be on guard but I will enjoy dealing with those situations.

Go for it, mate, give it up. Coming up for a month, myself, after 35 years of crap and although it's not easy by any stretch of the imagination, everything Kevin say is spot on. I can see everything he's saying happening to me and it's unbelievably exciting. The great things that start to happen when you give up are not myths, there real. As I say, it's not easy, especially in the beginning, but so, so, so worth the trials and tribulations. Do it!

I never drank to solve problems. I drank to have fun. And I did...have a lot of fun...for about 40 years. BUT, what I hadn't realized is that it was mostly stupid fun, building on nothing and allowing nothing else to be built. No drinking for nearly 4 years now and I think of all I've learned, the new things I've done, the progress on goals...and I wish I had that 10 times over for all the years lost "having fun," stupid fun.

1. Please be aware if you are a prolonged and heavy drinker and if you feel you have a major alcohol problem. You may need help from your doctor medically - assisted detox because withdrawal can kill you . Do your research. My husband died at 41 due to being an alcoholic. If you do feel you have a major alcohol problem, withdrawal can lead to delirium tremens, confusion, severe shaking, hallucinations and high blood pressure. So please see your doctor for help. 2.If you feel you are just a heavy drinker I'm sure stopping drinking will be easier with out medication from your doctor. 3.Please don't be frightened of talking to someone doctor or a family member or friend that will help you. 4.Most alcoholics lie about the amount they are drinking. 5.Kevin I think your videos are great but I only wish you would inform people of the above.
@Ronnymikkonen2686
@Ronnymikkonen2686 4 жыл бұрын
Of course they lie! And they minimize the amount! And they always tell you that there's many more who drink much much more than they do! And they can tell you that they need help not them! And so on and on and on!,,,,,,

brilliant metaphor about the layers of the onion; I agree, whatever it is I suspect we all start medicating ourselves with something that turns us into people we donèt want to know … all the rest you spoke about is pertinent. I was actually In bed off and on for about 4 yrs because my partner was bringing some very scary people home so I would be locked up with dog and cat so they would not recognize me on the street; he was doing his best with an addiction that brought about that situation and I wish him well every morning when I wake up. My physio guy emphasized that what you are doing, just walking and communicating, is excellent for the brain to gradually get back to where it is supposed to be. My drinking was binges over a 20 yr period and there is no way you are going to avoid fatty liver syndrome which can take up to 3 yrs to resolve itself, so good nutrition has been so important in that regard, as well as ethical considerations. When my blood sugar stabilized, my cravings also went away, big time. Tx for starting off my day with a good perspective; I also start with simple gratitude and try to live each day the best I can. I may have written that swimming works for me; meditation and a workout combined. All the best and thanks again Kevin!
