I decided a few years ago that I was going to be a semi- minimalist. It was completely by accident but I noticed how less stress I felt when I wasn’t surrounded by as much “stuff”. I started purging and couldn’t stop. It felt amazing. I owned a home with rooms that I only went in to clean. Now I have a small condo that is just big enough. I insist on having a certain percentage of negative space in it so I can breathe. I hate knickknacks. When I go to people’s homes and they have every inch of it filled with something it makes me feel overwhelmed. I do like luxury so my deal with myself is I can have luxury items but only a few. I don’t need a wall of luxury bags. I have three and I hardly ever want to carry them. So my maximum magic number for any luxury item is three. I have a reliable, safe vehicle and my furniture is from RH but since it’s a condo thats only a bed, chair and couch. My tastes aren’t going to change so I allow myself to have the best I can afford just not more than I honestly need.

I feel ya..every step of the way. Since 2021, I've been on this journey, and although it has felt lonely, I have grown to accept it. I had to let go of some relationships, even family. Currently, I'm in the process of decluttering my life, which is challenging but necessary. I find solace in the fact that God is working on me, and I embrace it wholeheartedly. It's great that you have your mom for support. Sadly, my family doesn't comprehend the path I'm on. Thanks sis

Girl my mom doesn’t comprehend anything either 😂 she’s just down for whatever I’m down for because I’m her baby. She thinks I’m crazy. I’m alone too, sis. I recently went to a family gathering and I felt so out of place because I’ve changed so much. I was ready to go. I get what you’re saying completely. If you’re in Dallas we should get together. If you’re not, join a church or some type of function so you can meet like minded people. I don’t want you to do life alone 🤍

@@MarrissaBreann No not in Dallas. I saw you recently relocated there, which is fantastic! I, on the other hand, am in metro Atlanta. I have a 22-year-old daughter and a spouse who occasionally gives me questioning looks, but they still let me be true to myself and journey. If you have any plans to visit Atlanta, do let me know. It would be wonderful to connect. Or we can meet up in Savannah. We hv a home there that we remodeled. Hope to visit Texas one day as we just spent the week in Jacksonville with some family members from San Antonio.

I enjoyed listening to this message. I was just talking to my friend last week about living a slower pace and not so much down for the city life. Grateful I live in the Suburbs of London and I get to take walks in the woods and be present with nature. I also have a desire to live a minimalist lifestyle and I notice consumption is creeping back in due to spending too much time on social media. Sis, this was a very good video. My heart goes out to your generation & beyond. The pressures your up against can be very overwhelming. I’m so glad that I didn’t grow up with the internet and all the mess that comes with it. Your right people are never satisfied, their constantly reaching for the next thing and don’t take the time to enjoy what they have and what they’ve accomplished. I believe your on the right path. God has you right where you need to be in this season. I’m not sure what your beliefs are but spend time with the Lord. Get to understand what he desires for you. He definitely doesn’t want us to be anxious by trying to keep up with the Joneses, I thank you for your authenticity. I’m now 60 yrs old and I own my own home and it’s just enough for me and the things that bring me the most joy is my family, close friends and just living the simple things in my life. When my car broke down I realized I had about $2000 in savings.... I had blew $8000 in savings from being influenced and spending mindlessly. I had to take all social media off my phone and see what I could sell. Keeping up with the Jones is a real disease. Stay prayed up and true to yourself. Loyalty and genuine love is so important to me. And I find that it is rare in relationships, even amongst families. It took me over 10 years to remove the people I loved so dearly because when I look at the list of not being celebrated. And asking the Lord to place red flags in my dreams. He told me to just watch and listen. Then, once I got the nerve to remove those people, I agree there is a sense of peace. Lastly, when it comes to meeting new people, I notice It's so easy for others to misunderstand or judge rather than going directly to the source.

Hello Ms.Marrissa, I am born, raised, grown 54yrs 8mos in So Cali Orange County, City of Santa Ana the heart of OC. Dec 2018 I left my beloved So.Cali & moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming to live with my son who was stationed there USAirForce. I had been watching Minimalist KZbin Influencers since 2015 & had cut down on "purchases." Now mind you my son says I have OCD. I've always been a neat, clean, organized person since I was a child. So its who I am. My son came home on leave that September. Together we went thru the garage. I had 10 storage med boxes full of books. I donated 8 boxes to 3 local Libraries. Christmas decor I had 3 storage big containers full, I was left with only half of 1 container everything else went in the trash. I wasn't about to spend a whole weekend trying to do a yard sale. I had a container of board games I donated to a local family shelter & some kitchen appliances I was no longer using. Blankets & towels donated to a local mens shelter. Now I was in Cheyenne, WY for 3nahalf yrs my sons says to me momma we are moving to Indiana, now here since March 2022. Once again prior to the move I donated, threw away and I also sold on local fb pages. Hair products its what I collect lots of. Living in Wyoming I stopped using all the styling products I used in Cali. I went Minimal on my hair down to just Oil. My son has already mentioned we will only be here perhaps 2 more years & will be moving again. Texas is where he wants to go. So I have 2 yrs to prepare. I have decided not to purchase home decor which is my fav #1, hair products #2, shoes #3. Doing excellent bc I been in practice since 2015. yikes its been 8yrs. so happy with myself & you will be too with yourself. Lastly am definitely living a slower paced life since I left my beloved Cali. Sorry its so long. Have a blessed day.

I put a limit on my phone for social media as well. The best decision ever! I love seeing classy black women like you. So gentle and soft spoken. You won extra brownie points with me when you mentioned you watch Candace Owens in your previous video. (I love her) Keep being you, you have a beautiful spirit

You hit the nail on the head with this video, I’ve been finding myself wanting to slow down. I have alot going on in life right now and I do not like it !!! And what is this all for anyway…I have enough and I am enough. Mentally, spiritually and physically everything is telling me to slow down. This was confirmation, so Thank you ❤ “And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭16‬:‭26‬ ‭

Sis u are so full of wisdom. My 13 yrs old son was asking me why we have to do things the way we do it. Like why do people have to work 8hrs a day why do we have to have more cars? I told him dude follow ur heart u don't have to do things the way other people do it. Do things that make you happy but then on the other side I was like remember you are still my baby so u have to do what makes mum happy too.❤❤ I will have him watch this video.
