What tricks do MotoGP riders use to brake even later? Trail braking deep into the corners.
I list 7 things MotoGP racers do to brake later and explain why they do them. Including the leg dangle, adjusting hands for leverage, blip the rear brake for stability and more.

Funny thing is, one of the latest and strongest brakers MotoGP has seen, Andrea Dovizioso, actually rarely ever dangles his leg or does any of the crazy movements on the bike. He's rock solid on the brakes and the bike is almost never out of shape, and it is said, if they pass Dovi on the brakes at one of his stronger tracks, it's guaranteed they won't make the apex.

@@gabrielms4625 Lorenzo was never strong on brakes, lol. He was smooth but an early brake user. Valentino and Dovi are the late brake expert. Valentino invented the leg dangle.

Hey Mike! Firstly, your rs250 is mint, best studio prop ever. I’ve heard that snapping the throttle shut by letting go entirely is I’ll advised and that flicking it shut while maintaining contact is preferable. I know it seems like a minor detail, but these things are complicated, especially when dealing with a control with two degrees of freedom. What do you think? Thanks, Chad

just guessings -i would say the dangle is also a psychic effect, while mountainbiking i nearly always dangled the inside for that moment when the rear slips (also the dirtbikers and sumo), and i also do it on sudden unexpected braking on the street and theres nothing i can do about it, and also watching the smoke when some soultouch the ground im pretty sure it helps for deceleration if you look at the timings these days

Also when a tire is straight up if you mesure how much the tire does contact with the grounds, and measuring it when you start to lean, you’ll notice that theirs more contact patch with the grounds than when straight, I’m not saying when your on full lean of course, but anyone’s with little knowledge of riding will understand.👍👍. And not on racetracks but simply on streets, I do kinda such a thing with the leg, but it’s simply the release the stress on the knee that is when feet’s on footpegs, always bend thigh. 👍👍

One silly doubt from the old vid on how to slide the rear end before entering a corner and braking hard. For eg when i tried to downshift from 4th gear to the second and when i drop the clutch, there's a "clunk" noise from the gear box, is that normal? Or am i hurting the gearbox?

Maybe motorcycle pilots should cleat into their machines like racing bicyclists, and just pull up or down to change gears and apply the brake. Would make foot dangling more difficult.

just downshifting, using a pronounced movement to subconsciously count down to the required gear for the turn so you don't have to look at the display.
