This guy is On The Money here and he's relatively young which I find quite heartening. Every word he said is true. I'm old now but have basically followed the mantra expressed here. Having said that, I have traveled I great deal, I've been round the planet 40 times and put in 1.5 million kilometers in long-distance flights, plus uncounted local ones. However I've never scrabbled after money, money arrived as if it were the applause for business well conducted. I've lived by Bible standards and found that to be the way of riches, material and spritual. Be loving and kind to others, your family, and be kind to yourself. Pursue godly things first, be diligent, stay modest, be humble.

I grew up in the projects in South Carolina and I was poor, now I'm not. After high school I went to community college and got a trade for myself. Now me and my wife both are making over$20 an hour. If you put GOD 1st and apply yourself, things will come into place. Don't get me wrong, I struggle also. I'm not saying that but I was determined to do better for myself and my family. So my advice is to put God first and come up with a plan to better yourself.

Jermaine, I am with you, here, too. Opening up to God by asking Him to give you what you need, then, thanking Him, rather He gives it to you or not, also brings peace of mind. I never quit asking, even if His response is slow because God also wants us to help ourselves and not just sit complacent with our mouth open. Blessings!

@Rafael Vargas Then you've never been to a real live hockey game! I believe what you're saying is right though. If the person can't afford it, don't do it. My first time at a hockey game (I was treated), when I walked through the area to where the game takes place and the seats, I saw all the players skating by at break neck speed, the whole experience literally pulled my breath out of me. It was thrilling. AGAIN though. I was treated, I did not ask, and if the person can't afford it, watch it on TV. There are things I would love to have but I don't buy. Why put that kind of pressure on, right?

There is nothing particularly wrong with fast food. Most restaurants offer things that are "relatively" healthful if you choose carefully. Those aren't the cheapest things on the menu, though. Taco Time, for example, offers a really nice grilled chicken Caesar salad with only 15 carbs. Good fiber, reasonable fat levels, nice tasting. But yeah, it's not the cheapest. And most people eat far too many calories in a fast food place--gotta have that coke, gotta have that shake, gotta have those fries...it all adds up fast. And it's low in fiber and nutrients.

Plus she was mean to me one day right after I gave her money as well!!!

I don't do any of those things and I'm still barely able to get by. Here's a couple of facts you left out: rents are super high, even for a regular plain Jane apt. Food and gasoline cost a lot more than they used to and wages are about the same as they were 25 years ago. Make sense?

I never treat payday like anything more than another day. I never feel the money burning a hole in my pocket. On the other hand, I think you can't deny yourself everything. you should be able to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Personally, I like to travel. It's one of my favorite things. That being said, I try to budget carefully and not spend a lot of money just cuz I'm on vacation. For example, I like to eat & shop in street markets and supermarkets. Memories of my travels are some of my best memories.

Haha true, my friend makes the most money out of all of us (close to $100k) but is the most poorer of us all. Other friends can't understand why but it's obvious - she may make the most but she spends it on all the things you listed. She plays the lottery and she NEEDS three holidays a year, NEEDS to go out every week, NEEDS the designer closet and flash car and expensive monthly haircuts and a new outfit for every party and every date and NEEDED the big fancy party for her birthday, her families birthdays, her family's baby showers etc she literally spends spends spends every payday and usually ends up having to borrow from her friends and doesn't even stop because she has a 'live for the moment' mentality but still always complains that she's not making ENOUGH!!

Great video. I agree with each thing on the list especially "the feasting" Many years ago my mom worked for a company that paid their employees on Mondays. The reason was when some of the employees would get their checks on Friday by Monday they'd ask the company for a advance on the next check. The boss got tired of giving them payday loans and started issuing checks on Mondays so the employees didn't spend the weekends blowing all their money and needing payday loans.

That would be a whomping $40. I'm guessing like most average Americans math is not your strong point. Let's say after 401K and medical etc you take home about $1200. You go out to the EXPENSIVE bars because you're a typical fucktard and you want people to think you have a lot of money. You run into your ''bar buddies'' lawyers, dentists etc who really DO have money and you buy them rounds. Everybody orders appetizers. You order shrimp cocktail yet again. Ultimately, you and another guy end up at a steakhouse. Now you're getting a little nervous but hey, you've got money what's the problem? At the end of the night, it's easily $300. You just burned 25% of your take-home pay to live in the world of make-believe. These people are called fucktards. Do NOT be one of them. If you don't believe me, try this in Minneapolis. Or not!

@living in a desert When I had jobs in my younger days, I never did those things. I lived almost the same as I did when my income was lower. Paid tithes (that comes first), then put money away for the month's rent (from work pay every 2 weeks), bought groceries, etc. Saved money and bought a little 14 inch tv (this was early 1990s) after I'd saved enough for it plus sales tax, etc. There was no going to the bar and buying a big meal and drinking a bunch of beer or shots, etc. Now, if I want a drink, I go to the alcohol store and buy one of those 2L cooler things which lasts a long time for me because I don't drink every day or every week. When I do drink, it's usually one drink with ice cubes in it usually with supper and that is very satisfying.

Your advice is reasonable, but you need FACTS about how poor people spend their money. I am a retired person on a tight income. I very rarely eat out. I never buy lottery tickets or gamble. I invested my RRSP money into dividend giving Canadian bank stocks -- safe, not get rich quick. My annual vacation is pretty cheap because I stay with my brother in Florida and he pays my air fare. I buy used clothing at Value Village when needed, shoes and underwear new on sale. My entertainment is KZbin videos, church events, books, gardening, having friends over for lunch. I use gift certificates given to me to buy Xmas and birthday presents for my family. I do splurge on supporting my foster child in Ethiopia and supporting my church.

Hello Mr Daniel I thank you for your efforts of training the world to pull out of poverty I would like to know how do companies like Amazon, eBay and others benefit by selling other people's goods
@SoferiaNebruin
@SoferiaNebruin 6 жыл бұрын
They keep a very large percentage of every sale. Some companies keep more than others, but in any case, they make a fortune. Etsy is another company. Last quarter they sold over a billion dollars in goods....thus, they clearly make millions off selling other people's goods. The advantage for the seller though (from my perspective) is that they actually handle marketing and keep the website operating well so the seller can focus on acquiring or making product and shipping (or in the case of Amazon, they can even assign the shipping to Amazon if they choose).
@SoferiaNebruin
@SoferiaNebruin 6 жыл бұрын
I will add that it is a sort of win-win situation. From a seller's perspective the amount in fees is still far less than overhead costs of having a brick-and-mortar store or hiring someone to handle website development and marketing. The downside is that they make the rules which can be constraining in a lot of ways.

Well, like several other people have said they are still poor, me too. I don't drink, gamble, go out for dinner, anything like that. I sold almost all if my belongings to help simplify my life. I purchased a used ,36 ft. RV paid cash. I live in a trailer park outside if Los Angeles my rent is $550 per month all utilities included. I didn't drive a luxury car. But some things in life you just deserve to have. I live on the Cheap. I'm also no longer married and don't have kids. If you're single and not attached to possessions. Go look at a good used RV I beat the hell out of the cost of living in L.A. plus if I don't want to be here anymore. I can simply start up my house and drive away!

I could only dream of going out for a nice meal, let alone a vacation. I never do any of these things mentioned and I’m always broke after just paying for the absolute necessities such as rent, utilities, insurance, fuel, medications and a few groceries. Needless to say, investing is completely out of the question. Working long, difficult hours for low wages is unfortunately a reality for most of us with few to no skills.

Add to the list is leasing a luxury car/SUV. Leasing a car is totally to the dealers' benefit, basically because they get to have YOUR cake and eat it too. They get to tell you how little your car is worth at the end of the lease, and you have to come up with the difference, essentially PAYING FOR THE CAR but not owning it.

Great video. I think gambling is the number one issue. I go to a casino about every two to three years, but nothing changes. The place actually affects me negatively when I see retired people spending their money. My career is in statistics, so that gives me a biased view against gambling and I know the that the odds are against you, because casino's are a business. And per his point on the get-rich quick schemes, I remember reading that those that are most vulnerable to these schemes tend to be in their 20s to their mid-30s and lack a higher education or trade school education. I went back to college when I was 31, got a degree in engineering, and worked hard to earn my income and I am glad that I did. Many people fought against me going to college, but my degree takes care of me and gives me the cash-flow to invest, buy a home, save, and have money to buy the small things that make me happy. What I don't do is buy $50k trucks, boats, and ridiculous material items. My credit cards are paid off so really I have nothing else to pay for and the reason is that I don't blow my money. I have an antenna that picks up 39 FREE air t.v. channels, more than I need, without paying a cent for cable. Life is good.
