I generally agree, except for number 1. I rarely buy clothes, but when I do, it's the cheap brands. Most of my friends spend more time and money buying nicer clothes. I don't see the value in that. I'd rather spend my money on more important things, like investments. I realize I may appear as a poor person to some, because I almost never renew my wardrobe. I drive an old car. I have no fancy things at all. But I can save more than half my income, and have invested it and am now making even more. The only thing I buy that is of higher quality is food. Because health is important, so I'm willing to spend more on that.

Awesome, that’s a great idea. But you deserve to look and appear nice also. If your car is clean that’s good. But since your making good money now, why not get a couple pair of jeans and slacks and at least a few polos. You only live once and besides that’s your body. I’m not saying go spend $500 every week. But maybe invest like $50-$100 a month for a year and before you know it you will have about 5 nice shoes, 10 shirts and 10 pants.
@Astillion
@Astillion 6 жыл бұрын
$50-100 a month!? I haven't spend that much this year. I will be getting some new clothes soon though since I've lost weight and have to have some things that fit better. But I don't think it will be over $200, and after I've bought it all I'll be set for years probably. I'll just need replacing things that break every now and then. I have 4 pair of pants right now, of which 2 are too big and I need new ones. I also need shirts, 2-3 maybe, because I have none that fit anymore. I'm set with shoes, my 3 pairs is enough. I might add that I don't use any of my private clothes at work, so my clothes will last longer than for most. And I will sell the car at the end of this month. That will save me a lot of money.

Ultimately you invest for a purpose.Further people are not the same. For example I live in a mid range suburb in a relatively modest house.I drive a C class Mercedes(2015) and my wife drives an Audi Q3(2013). I do not have any debt(Everyting I have is paid up). I have taken several expensive holidays abroad in the last6 years (I am a South African).I retired last year and have a comfortable pension and investments. Some people in my position have chosen to "invest" in expensive houses in top suburbs but cannot afford expensive holidays abroad because of heavy mortgage commitments and the expensive upkeep of expensive houses. The question is are they really "enjoying " their money? Ultimately everyone ,rich or "poor" has to make choices about spending/enjoying their money versus investing it.The "really rich" can do both, the middle class has to make choices, while the "really poor" have NO money to invest or enjoy!

the reason rich people don't pay attention to the price of shirts is because they have the money to cover the charge of all bu the mos ridiculously priced shirts. People without excess money need to be more choosy and selective. That's not a mindset, that's a priority.

I have a rebuttal. I buy only the highest quality in all things. For a very long time I did not make more than $37,000 a year. During that time I bought good things that cost quite a sum there were of the highest quality. Then I made a lot more income, I had lot's of fun. But you know what, I started a business and my wages had to decline awhile. However, everything I own does not break and my cloths last. Since I don't buy repetitive products, I spend hugely less on things. Therefore, even with my wage reduction, I still take cruises and everything without ever charging anything to credit. Cheap prices are seldom affordable.

change your priority and your mind will change. his point is when you think you are poor you will be poor. if you think you can or can"t afford the $50 shirt thats your mindset. its the same thing so why are you questioning logic? think big not small!

Many things you touched on I understand. Years ago, I was always told to have a job at an hourly wage, work hard, stay with a company and retire if you want when you are 65. I wished I had known all these little things about three streams of income. One thing I must say is many who want to be rich sometimes die poor because of drugs, alcohol, lack of care for selves. This so sad. There are people like Betty White who live life and enjoy it. She is a great example. If everyone lived like her, the world would be a much better place.

So far I can only say 3 word sentences in spanish, colors, body parts, foods, directions, a few animals, people/family members and I can count to 1,000. I haven't started my French yet. I can say about 20 to 30 words in French.

my first thoughts are many "rich people" are born into that life style. I also think if you were born poor how can you afford good education so how can you be well educated and with bad education comes with a lower income job. Although personally i believe people shouldn't be judge on how much cash they have in their pocket but how they are as a person and their personality.

J9J9T your thinking like a poor person now you don't need a job and working for someone else to make a high income the only thing you need is financial literacy and dedication then you there this is how most self made millionaires and billionaires made it to the top and that's why there's a lot of poor people in the world because they can't get out of the rat race and most people will work until they die because they think that they have to work for money instead of making their own money from scratch and creating their own business from scratch and they believe that they need a raise and the world owes them something well you thought wrong buddy the world doesn't owe you anything and you should stop thinking like this but when I hear people talking like this in a poor person mind I think this person can do more and be better than this you know what I mean so start listening to Daniel and just because bill gates came from a rich family and they payed for his business doesn't mean you can't rise from nothing and become everything you have to see the progress not the end results this is how you become rich true facts hope you learn something from this 😉👌

Daniel - I don't mind reading. I read at home. I read at the library. I will always be poor because where I live in order for me to get the job I want I have to know more than English. I have trouble with language comprehension. I made As and A pluses in French in school UNTIL it came time to have to actually comprehend the language and use it in conversation - then I floundered. I even bought french books years ago, studied them, until I came to a part I couldn't comprehend in the book. I set it aside. Years later, I borrowed a french book from the library, began again to attempt to learn it, and floundered again. It's not enough just to say the poor are poor because they "watch tv" instead of being willing to read and try to learn. I did read and I did try to learn. I am still poor. I'm not rich. I'm not starving. I have what I need and I have no real aching desire as some people might have to be rich. I'm just saying that making blanket statements about the poor being entertained is not always specifically valid. I love to learn. But there are people in this world with learning and/or comprehension problems. I may be or actually am one of them. It does not mean that I and others who have these troubles are not willing to read and try. I hope you will at least consider this if you're reading these comments and adjust some of your speeches to allow for these possibilities.

+Daniel Ally Just one thing: Not being sceptical can lead you being misused, financially ruined, scammed and much more. It is good not just to trust the authorities, but get to educate your mind, so you can find a good way to a solution and not get scammed on the way. Sure, it is important, to also listen to others. But you will also need to watch out for the scammers and psychopaths out there. No kidding. If you ever meet one and they drag you down, you will need to get what happens - better you know that before you are a victim. And they actually look for successful people to drag them down (or people who are hard working). You need to learn who is toxic, so you can protect yourself from them. Or they will hinder your success.

+Daniel Ally By the way, thank you for the informations. Experience may also come from harsh circumstances or bad experiences, or also as you told - from books (and scientific papers) - which need to be checked in reality as well. Maybe you already had some (like in the ghetto). Nice, that you made it, where you are, even though they said, you won't make it. Where we are in life, can help us, also to help others to reach something good - which is not only in wealth, but wealth is a mean to do good or bad. Just because wealth can cause evil (or property) or is the root of it, it does not mean, it is its only use.

Almost everything you have just said is completely the opposite of how it actually is. It isn't rich people who go into expensive shops to buy fancy suits. It's the people who spend most of their earnings. You are the type of guy who thinks someone is rich because they drive a fancy car have an expensive watch and own a fancy house. The reality is that the rich people usually live way below their means and seem pretty ordinary and do shop around more.

I live in La! I travel to Cali often! I have fam & acquaintances all across America! Honestly speaking I love helping ppl, but get tired of ppl staying in the same spot yr after yr & make others feel guilty for having something! I hate being around ppl who have wasted their lives & hate on others who try to save & have something in life!!!
