Agree with all of your thoughts here, dear Deirdre. Re exposing too much skin, may I add paying particular attention to skin that is not in good condition, i.e. excessive sun damage, varicose veins, etc.? We should aim more for elegance as we age, with lovely fabrics that drape in a becoming way. Or am I starting to sound like me late mother here...

My mother had a great saying ... "Wear your clothes tight enough to show you are a woman, but loose enough to show you are a lady". Anything that is too thin, sheer and tight is an absolutely no-no for a lady.

This is one of my favorite videos! I am in a rural area in West Virginia USA where anything goes as far as wardrobe choices 🙄 Truly, having respect for one's self is a mindset that manifests in the way we dress. I see people shopping for groceries in pajamas I wouldn't wear in the privacy of my own home!

I hear you here in suburban Milwaukee! I was just at the store and I don't think a lot of my fellow Wisconsinites have heard of the word sloppy or frumpy! So many look like they just got done scrubbing the floor! Ugh. What does it take to put on a clean shirt and pants? Not a whole lot of effort involved! Some people have no self-respect.

I am from Georgia but live in Alabama now. I see it in both states because I still have family in Georgia. Most of who I see wearing pajama pants and slippers out in public are young people. They don't seem to have any self respect and pride in their appearance. I am 60 years old. I have never gone out without nice clothes and my makeup. My parents raised me to always look my best and I raised my children the same way. It's just laziness to me.

Another great video!!! My biggest fashion bugaboo has to be logos, especially on handbags! I don't want to wear what everyone else is wearing and I love great leather goods. I don't mind when the designer has a discrete symbol or logo, but when it is plastered all over, it looks tacky or like a knock off.

I refuse to purchase/wear anything with a logo. As I see it, if a company wants me to wear their clothes/bags with their logo, I'm rendering a service to that company and it should pay me, not the other way around. Really enjoy your videos :)

I think what makes one look cheap is wearing too much makeup, heavy done up eyes. Not wearing a proper bra or no bra at all.

I still have a few pieces that probably look"cheap", but not many anymore. I cleaned and polished my shoes this weekend, what a difference. Worn or dirty shoes cheapen an outfit in my opinion.

Talking of logos. Travelling in America I planned on getting a tshirt from all the Hard /Rock cafes. I had a couple when on a coach trip around NY the coach stopped by a park in the Bowery. These guys just stepped from behind trees and emptied rubbish bags of Hard Rock cafe knock offs. My friend bought a sweatshirt for less than I paid for a tshirt. Back at our hotel we compared the garments finding both really good quality. No more shirts for me. I actually don't want to go around wearing something where I am in fact paying to advertise a garment for a company.

Just my opinion but, big poufy/teased hairdos, really long fake nails, really long spider-like false eyelashes, lots of black eyeliner, bright red dyed hair, really dark dyed black hair, really white dyed hair, bright red lipstick, balloon lips, etc. In a nutshell, extremes.

When I was young, over 50 years ago, we had logos but they were subtle and mainly on designer bags or maybe a Lacoste shirt, for example. I remember a rather wealthy woman I met abroad who said she never wore logos because she didn't want to be a walking ad for a company. This was 2 decades or more before "logomania."

I def think showing too much skin as you get older starts looking 'iffy'! Its why I love the colder weather TBH. Currently wearing a very short, very low cut dress but teamed it with a long sleeved top underneath and thick fleecy tights...still looks cute but Im also well covered!😄

I live in suburban Houston, and haven't seen pj's in public for about 6-8 months. The comments here made me stop and think about it. Even the kids stopped doing it, so maybe it's going away! It's insufferable. 🙄

Loud print, hiding the person inside, on the waist not enough fabric but only a big rubber band 😂. It would have ended as floor cloth or balled forever up in the laundry bag, I cut it up and use the parts as cleaning rugs now.

Hi Deidre, absolutely loved this video made me laugh at some of the clothing choices, som.e only to be worn by noone older than 13!!!but I agree many materials can make us look cheap, some very bad cheap jewellery pieces and handbags that are very loud as you say! You will never convince me to give up perfume…I wear very high end, not cloying but not super barely there…I don’t smell like a drugstore which is where cheap fragrances live usually! My fragrance does not enter the room before I do…and there are different kinds from lighter, but still there, to heavier, but not headache inducing…all are worn lightly and in the right places…not heavy for daytime appointments, stronger for evening. No perfume strikes me as an “older” thing…not going there!

I totally agree with you. I am going to be 59 tomorrow. Have and always will wear perfume. With age we know what makes us feel good. I don't feel dressed without it. We also know that when a woman or a man says wow you smell gorgeous it brightens up theirs and my day 😊 xxx

Please give up parfum as you age. Choose lighter, watered down scents, for less cloying and demanding scents. Your partner may be too intimidated to tell you that you smell akin to a branded shop. Ring up the changes. Change to neutral bath soaps. Wash your curtains, cars, all your scarves, coats, jerseys, and candles and freshen your rooms and outlook. Keep the men guessing. Are you only a child of the 60's, 70,'s ...

Be aware that many people have allergies or intolerances to perfumes/scents. We successfully isolated cigarette smoke - wish we do the same for perfumes.
