When I was raising my family, I made our children's lunches at night, right after dinner. This way they were done, and cold from being in the fridge over night. We prepped everything possible the night before. I would be up at least an hour before them, so I could have a peaceful cup of coffee. Because everything was done the night before ( home picked up, lunches made, clothes picked out, etc. ) our mornings were always calm. Do you have a crock pot? Or an Instant Pot? These make dinners quick and easy. tfs 🍃🥰🍂🌵🍁🏜️💗✝️

Great ideas! I’m still working on a weekly whole family house cleaning. We started having a waffle brunch after church on Sunday which yields leftovers for breakfast on Monday. And I have family buy-in to make Sunday night a popcorn and YO-YO dinner (you’re on your own - leftovers, fruit, cheese, etc). I’m letting my fantasy self off the hook of being the mom who prepares 21 unique and wonderful meals per week.

Love the Normalize cereal nights. It's weird when we have baby's we always hear "fed is best" weather formula or bottle, but when they are older we beat ourselves up for cereal nights or mac and cheese nights, let's Normalize fed is best for all stages of life

I would make lunches the night before. Also night before, Children would pick out cereal, muffin, granola bar... for breakfast. Place it on the table in a bowl covered and set a spoon and napkin. I would put small cups of milk in fridge for them to grab in the morn to drink or pour over their cereal. This way they could get up and eat breakfast on their own. I made hot breakfasts on weekends.

I'm an empty nester but remember those crazy days when I worked full time and besides school my sons were involved in so many sports. I really do not know how I survived, wish I had known some of these tips back then. TFS

#6 is my biggest issue. My husband wants lists. I don't want to make lists I am just saying if you see the trash running over if you see the dishwasher needs to be unloaded just do it but you are right I need to verbally or write and delegate.Yes #7 too my husband doesn't like to help me because I nitpick at how it is done I need to stop that as well thank you for this video.

Yes on the systems and routines. I wish I had learned that long ago. And yes, delegating and communicating. My hubby just does not see or care about certain things.

Great video! I especially loved the tip about systems. I need to go through and evaluate my systems as I've just moved. Glad to be in this collab with you!

Thank you! Such a clear video :) I especially appreciated the detailed breakdown of which routines you have in order to help us (re-)think ours. Also, communication -- SO important in pretty much every aspect of life. Trying to wait for ppl to guess or read our minds or *just* notice what needs to be done (or how we're feeling, or what we need right now, etc.) is a waste of everyone's energy. Clearly stating things makes it easier for everyone -- we get practice clear (concise? ;) ) expression of needs/desires + others feel relieved because they know what is expected/desired/needed. Wins all around :D

You put in a lot of good information. Your dad looked like a kind Christian man, was he a pastor? I am sorry for your loss, I recommend rest and grace.

Many years ago, I learned that you should not go behind your children or your spouse and "fix" how they did tasks. Unless you want them to stop helping out.

Just curious about dinner - what if someone isn't hungry at the same time as everyone else? Would they be allowed to eat at another time? Also, what if someone is still hungry after dinner & needs a snack?
@Nourishingminimalism3 жыл бұрын
I'm sure a lot of it is differences in family/personality. We always eat together and no one has had the option of eating at different times, it's so routine there is no question as to whether everyone feels like eating or not, the only time that happens is if someone is sick. If someone wants a snack later, it's a banana or yogurt, something they can just grab and eat. But generally, we aren't snackers, and because we're so scheduled, our bodies are just used to eating 3 times a day, we all feel hungry at our typical eating times.

My biggest time win was, when I signed up for weekly food boxes from hello fresh. Of course, not the most frugal way to shop groceries, but it gave me so much peace in mind. Searching for recipes that everyone likes, to plan out the week, to buy all the ingredients, to store properly, to cook it... It was really time consuming and nerv wrecking for me. Now I can choose some meals that I think everybody likes in an app. Sometimes I forget to choose and it still comes a good variety of meals. Everything I need is on my counter, including the recipe. I just shop fresh veggies and fruits for snacks and the basics for breakfast and sandwiches. Shopping groceries is so much more enjoyable for me. And big win: I can keep my "pantry" very minimalistic. Unfortunately the meal maximum is for four people, and we are six soon. But as long as my children are not in puberty and eat lot more, it will do it.

Great ideas, but why you force your kids wear masks? Please invest some time to know what really means virus, vac. etc. Be free & let breath everyone
@Nourishingminimalism2 жыл бұрын
I have no trust in masks preventing the spread of viruses and we did talk to our children about that, but as Christians, felt that if it makes other people feel better, we can give up our own comfort for theirs. I gave up my rights to myself when I surrendered my life to Christ. Aside from that though, this video was done last year when mask mandates were in place, and they have since stopped and our city and schools are back to normal, mask-free living. 😊
