I really do hate it when fans really get aggro towards the players. I think the one that I've been the closest to is Ter Stegen because, it really wasn't that long ago, that Barcelona--with him in goal--nearly broke the fewest goals conceded in a season tally, while winning La Liga against a _far_ superior Real Madrid team. Ter Stegen is almost definitely the best keeper that Barcelona have had since I started watching them--I never thought Valdes was particularly amazing, but he had a _ridiculous_ defense in front of him so it wasn't as apparent at times. It's really similar to how Man Utd fans got with De Gea, despite literally anchoring their hopes and dreams for _years_ but had a bad spell amidst a really bad spell for Man Utd and everyone wanted him out. Man was more of a lynchpin in Man Utd's squad than any of their outfield players. To which they got Onana, and I'm an Onana fan, I believe in him, and as of late, he's probably been Man Utd's best player this season, but boy howdy did he start awfully. It's a thing that I wish more fans understood, unless you're Real Madrid, you're going to experience down turns in quality and you have to rebuild. That takes time, and a willingness to let things build. Real Madrid is like, the exception, because they often target established superstars. Not every team is going to be able to look at someone like Mbappe and slap down the funds to purchase him. They get to skip a lot of the growing pains that other clubs will inevitably experience; they build a skeleton for how they want the team to function, and then get to build on top of it with their flow of superstars. No other team can do that effectively.
