Once you defeat Agahnim, he reveals himself to be Ganon at the last moment and teleports to that Pyramid in the center of the Dark World, which you have to get there yourself and finally fight Ganon to end the game for real.

Keegan Lafferty I really think that's how the game intended it to be taken, honestly. I never got the vibe that Agahnim is Ganon in disguise, but rather that Ganon had actually physically possessed Agahnim toward the end of the game, like a demon possession. So when you defeat (read: kill) Agahnim, Ganon's possessing spirit rises from Agahnim's body, becomes corporeal again, and then turns into a weird bat creature, and flies off to the Golden Pyramid so you can follow to do battle.

Yep, a nod to the original Ghosts and Goblins on NES where, when you beat the game the first time you're told everything you just did was an illusion, and now you have to beat and even harder version of the game, AND kill the extra tough last boss with a very specific weapon (which is the worst weapon in the entire game, btw) in order to actually complete it.

Crash Bandicoot 1-3 do this. It's not enough to just collect the crystals and beat the bosses, but you have to then collect all of the gems and (in Crash 3's case) the relics too. And the relics need to be at least gold for 105% completion in Crash 3
@minifeebas89115 жыл бұрын
kid icarus still takes the cake imo everything up to the point where you beat medusa points at that being the final boss fight, and the credits start rolling. after the first few credits have rolled, hades claws open the screen and reveals that he was the actual baddie of the game. the rest of the game is 16 more chapters, which is, compared to the 9 you already did, nearly twice as long (time wise might be more than that)

I remember when I was a teenager playing RE3 and the part with the helicopter got blown away I legitimately was in shock lol. I recall it being a tad scary in general though with that game, so it was a combination of "oh god damnit, he isn't going away!" and "ahh man, I can't win!" hahaha There is no way RE2 could have been an surprise that Birkin was back. If you grew up with it like our generation (I was 14 at the time personally), then you definitely knew that in the remake things weren't going to be much different lol.. I think the most surprising thing about the Remake is how they made Tyrant T-103 ("Mr.X") the main antagonist. The one thing they REALLY fucked up, of all things, is that they made the entire 2 scenario thing almost pointless. Well not almost, they did make it pointless. I have no idea why they didn't make it was constant as opposed to this new one not lining up correctly. It's actually really annoying that they fucked up on the scenario A connecting to scenario B directly, including the items being gone if you picked them up prior. To basically make it a moot point...it's disappointing to say the least.

And then that fight gets interrupted three time for you to fight some other menace. Seriously, Sakurai loves moving the goalposts in that game. Oh! You think you’re fighting the Underworld Army some more to get to Hades? Psych! Viridi and her Forces of Nature decide to interfere with their own plan to destroy humanity! Getting ready to stop her so you can focus back on Hades? Nope! Now you must team up with Hades, Viridi, and newcomer Pyrrhon to defeat the invading Auron. (Also, when you think you’re about to finish off the Auron, Pyrrhon betrays you, and now you have to make your way back through to fight him.) Think that you’re going back to fight Hades or Viridi, or maybe have a break? Nope! Turns out that earlier you freed some ancient evil trapped by Viridi that possesses Palutena, leaving Pit’s soul trapped in a ring while his body-on Palutena’s orders-starts to attack mankind, so now Magnus (an earlier ally) has to help you get your body back and then Viridi and your “evil” twin Dark Pit help you to free Palutena. You’d think that’d be good, right? Nope! The Chaos Kin tries to take Dark Pit down with it, so Pit ends up seriously injured and has to be taken to a magical fountain by Dark Pit to be rejuvenated, at which point Hades (who had been pretty much absent through most of the Chaos Kin debacle) reminds you that, oh yeah, you have to take care of him, too. So Pit gets revived, you go to fight Hades with the Three Sacred Treasures, but then Hades decides to destroy them in one fell swoop, then eat you. So you’re in his body and have to escape. You encounter and destroy his heart before escaping, which you’d think would kill him, but nope! He’s still fine. So now you have to get a new Great Sacred Treasure to fight Hades, which includes a bit of a boss rush against some old foes and the new weapon itself. Only then do you _finally_ get to fight and defeat Hades. And of course, if you wait long enough at the end credits, Hades’ disembodied voice comes and threatens to delete your save file (he doesn’t, thankfully).
