I've found that my voice is the instrument that I have the best command over and thus affords me the most creativity. So, playing ideas that I sing helps my creativity on guitar, breaks the monotony of just playing licks I've learned and ultimately improves my guitar skills. Thank you for reminding me that I need to do it more. You are a phenomenally skilled player and a joy to watch because your play from your soul & with so much emotion that the beauty of your spirit coincides with the beauty of the notes you play. Thank you for making the world a more beautiful place with what you do! ✌🏾& Blessings! ♥️🖤🧡💚

Thank you for sharing these tips, Helen. I appreciate how you start with the personal approach to playing and only after that go to the more technical parts of it. To me that's how I hear your playing also, lots of heart and just enjoyment of music, and when listening behind that I hear the technique. You're an awesome guitarist.

Hi Helen you totally nailed the Improv, when you sang and the played those same notes. You have to play the notes that are in your head and know exactly how it will sound before you actually play them. You have to have some basic fretboard memorization for improv.

This lady has the gift of melody,! ... not everyone does. A friend, my first guitar teacher before I even considered playing music, said " there is a box here" , he pointed at the strings. "and you have to find the melody in that box" Well, I didn't know what he was talking about until some decades later when I retired and took up guitar.

Over my many years of music listening and artcist following, I've read some of the ways the best write music. Bob Dylan mentioned taking two different sets of instructions and writing down one-liners. John lennon, we know used Yoko's book to write Imagine. The first word in the first paragraph is.. Imagine

When doing the call and response type of things it is a good idea to make the parts clearly different. I often play one part legato with a lot of hammer ons and pull offs and the other part staccato picking every note and often muting it.Often changing location on the neck too. Nice video.

Ibe,Helen (you)made my day in this video, especially Around Minutes 1:14-1130 of this Video when she goes: "The Lion Ate the Tiger",as if that is easily possible in real Life. She captured my attention to think: Firstly;Lions can afford a better Meal from the Natural Menu. Secondly, Tigers can defend themselves from Being eaten by a MERE Lion. But Helen made it sound so real by Improvisation. I guess that's why her Guitar playing is so Unique. And i wanna give her a KUDOS and a challenge too,or any Musician who can,to write (Compose) a song. Tittle: THE LION ATE THE TIGER if it doesn't already exit. [This can be For any Instrument soloing, but most preferably > lead Guitar is welcome(d)].
