👋 Michael. Just taking time to compliment your style of playing, teaching and channel. I'm fairly new to your channel. Very impressive. You never stop learning. You teach the way I was first taught which seems like yesterday to me but it's been 48 years. Learned technics of playing. Just getting back to playing after major health issues. Music 🎶 as well as singing playing guitar 🎸 has literally retrained my motor skills and working with the memory and retrieving it for a few years. I'm finally getting where it's coming back to me with the help of you and many others. I look forward to your channel. Still learning everything I'm getting there. SRV was my favorite guitarist of all times as well as so many others. Just wanted to say thank you. You've helped and continue to help me. My brain is taking over now which is good. The doctors say I'm a miracle. I thank people I've been blessed with who continue to help. Music 🎶 I had that gift before and it is a healer in my life. Thank you Michael for your help. 😀

Michael much love. Fan. Must interject (one time) and note that this captures what music is truly about as opposed to theory. Expression!,Transcends the technics. And she definitely expressed in a way one can't not feel. Expression, in any form has no bounds or barriers. Truly Thanx for the lessons and reactions my bro. And ty for this vid.

"...the third of the fifth is the leading tone of the root..." Wait, what? I get it... but I mean, suddenly I also get it that there are probably a hundred little axioms like that to help find one's way around the mystery of melody. This moment reminds me of being a kid in a barber's chair the first time I saw the mirrors in front of me and behind me line up into infinity. Man, I've dabbled at this for so long and felt like theory was inaccessible but the way you talk about it keeps knocking holes in that idea.

Good lesson, Michael. Helen rocks. When I first learned the diatonic chord progression, this was the tune I chose to practice with. This tune includes the 7th chord in that progression, A#dim in this case; Heat Wave is another good tune to practice that progression with. I digress ...

Anyone here taken his course? I’ve played guitar for years but never really understood the instrument. I heard this before and it seems to fit me: I’ve learned to play songs on the guitar but I want to learn how to actually play the guitar. If you’ve taken his course do you feel it gets you to a place of understanding the instrument fully? I know it takes practice and dedication but I’ve struggled finding a source that puts the material in a logical way to truly learn the instrument. Thanks!

I would like to share this with you. This is a crazy medley played by Bugs Henderson. He shows off a bunch here. He is playing an 84 PRS plugged straight into a Rivera amp which is cranked. He does everything with volume, tone, and toggle as far as tone manipulations. At the 5:43 mark he plays Yankee Doodle and Dixie at the same time. This album which is rare and hard to find is a must for guitar players. Michael, Helen, whom I see has commented below, is featured on a wonderful video by Paul Davids in which five guitarists play over a loop provided by Davids, and she does a marvelous job. You mentioned, Rick Beato, one of the most knowledgeable and entertaining teachers on the internet, and while there are many of whom I am not aware, I am sure, I will also mention Mike Pachelli.
