Thank you for this. How many cats do you have? I counted five. Also, the two yellow tabbies: how do you tell them apart?

When I made the video, we had 9 indoor cats. Kilala and Lina have passed since then, so we have seven inside now. (we also have 3 semi-ferals that have been fixed that we feed in the yard). The orange tabbies are Jake and Elwood and it can be hard to tell them apart. Jake is slightly bigger and has a small white patch on his belly. Elwood's eyes tend to look a little sadder. We do mix them up still sometimes!

What is the distance between each shelf?

The shortest distance is 1 foot. In retrospect, we probably should have done 18 inches minimum. However, the current cats do not have any issues using the shelves. If we had bigger cats, they might be a little too close.

I built walkways throughout my kitchen but rescue cat will still not use them to get to the perches I placed. The walkways are not wide, they are more narrow, is that a problem and why he will not use?

Have you tried placing treats or catnip on the walkways? Maybe he just doesn't like them? I am not sure. Some of my cats use the walkways every day, and some of the others are not interested.

Carpet ? Its as thin as paper? How comfortable can that be

They like to run laps on the upper level as fast as they can. We have cat beds on some of the other shelves for them.The purpose of the carpet was to make the shelves not slippery. You could use a different material.

If you took down window shelves I bet they can jump across.
