Caleb. Please never change. You are so smart. But when you speak, it matters. You say only what matters. Thank you for not falling into the pit of scholarship. God bless you.

I'm always impressed by how Caleb explains what ever sublject he's reviewing. But as a youtube junkie i'll add this comment. i'll use Job but other old testament books apply. as i watch Jewish rabbis explain, say Job, the accuser is not the devil as christians think ,but a sprit that says what if to God. also the suffering part is not as important as the ending chapters where God ask Job how can you question me. With the final punchline being ..God does what God wants to do. Other OT stories have similar conclusion.

This is odd. I've had Bob (Robert) teach me. It's weird hearing you talk about someone I know in a personal capacity 😂

Really excellent summary! And so timely, given today’s liturgical scriptures. I’ve also seen Bishop Barron’s homily for today, where he talks about Job as well, and I think your video added a lot of insight to that discussion. I particularly liked your final “personal” point, actually, and never thought about that angle of letting the adversary strike back at God. It reminded me of the very final scene of “The Passion of the Christ”, where the devil is seen screaming desperately in utter defeat.

Caleb summarizes really hard books. I summarize Caleb's summaries. 1. Does God play dice? No, God is sovereign over everything even the leviathan and behemoth (I'm on team REAL leviathan and behemoth :). 2. Is the accuser for us or against us? Some on the divine counsel are for and others against, but all are underneath God. 3. Is God our advocate or adversary? Advocate, and he even sovereignly allows the leviathan and behemoth to strike us for our own good and sanctification. remnants 5. Job 19:25 - is the redeemer Jesus? Jesus is the fulfilment (I'm on team - Jesus is always in the text). The ads on this video were for: 1) A free survival sleeping-bag (everyone needs one for the apocalypse. Sorry post-millers you don't need one). 2) An ad to rescue dogs (rescue one and bring them into the millennium where they can lay down with a lion). 3) A killer brownie flavored cologne protein powder (stock up with this in the bunker, you will come out ready for a great millennium with your dog).

Totally agree with you that God is sovereign (even over the divine council) and that Leviathan and Behemoth are real (not a hippo, elephant or crocodile - a blight on many Bible translation notes that suggest such possibilities, as they do not even come close to the descriptions provided in the text!). The Bible is clear that God is our advocate and the awesome lesson I derive from Job is that God does not have to give us an explanation why we sometimes face persecution, severe times of testing, trial or suffering - He is God and he is way beyond our human ability to comprehend except for the minute amount that He has graciously revealed through His word. Yes, Jesus is always in the text. (Luke 24:27)

@Brad Bowers Thank you so much for that clarification - my reply was assuming a Christian reader. Those who do not receive God's grace of sins forgiven through faith in Jesus Christ have a scary prospect: "It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God!" (Hebrews 10:31)
