Great video, snake kit highly important, we went up and done the Crooked River track last week and we forgot our first aid kit which is ALWAYS in the car (except this time). We camped after the last river crossing and went for a dip as it was hot, we had a red belly black snake just at the water edge, it was huge and with no snake kit/first aid kit we moved immediately. NEVER let that happen again.

Nice to see how you do it down under mate, in the Very North I have no problem off road, Sweden, Eastern Europe, snow, - 30, but the rain you get melts the roads and turns streams to torrents, don't know about a snorkel, I'd be packing my subaqua kit, 😁😁 Looking forward to seeing more of your wonderful country. Wow mate. Thanks for dropping in from Sweden. Yeah we sure don’t have to deal with the sub zero temps that you do. -30 that’s just crazy numbers. I know this is off topic but I have a question regarding to 2wd on easy high country roads in dry weather, atm I currently have a vt commodore sedan and would like to explore a couple of easy high country roads in dry weather, is it safe to drive my car on the Dargo high plain road from the central town of Dargo to where the road ends at the Great Alpine Road not far from Mt Hotham? And is it safe to drive my car on the Ensay-Buchan link track in dry weather?
@timbates4wdadventures Жыл бұрын
G'day Tamara, I probably wouldn't be driving the Dargo High Plain in the car you have. It gets a lot of traffic from four wheel drives and it can be quite rough in spots. You would need to travel very slowly if you went across to Hotham from Dargo. Not sure about the Buchan link. Hope that helps. Cheers Tim
@tamarachumbley8722 Жыл бұрын
@@timbates4wdadventures i wouldn’t be going that far the track I’m looking at is the omeo-Dargo track which is rated easy, according to the map I’ve got printed on the paper that’s showing me the track highlighted in pink I would be turning right on birregun rd after driving past dog’s grave then turning left on cassilis rd then turning right onto great alpine road into Omeo. Other drive hate me for this but I normally drive slow on dirt roads anyway especially on the local dirt roads where I live I never go over 60 or 70km/h in dry weather and I go at least 20-40km/h in wet weather. Are you also familiar with the nunniong track which is highlighted bright orange on my map it’s mentioned that it’s rated easy and I’m hoping to go sightseeing at Bentley plains and Moscow villa and maybe check out the Washington winch, I know I’ll get mocked about this and it doesn’t hurt to ask but would that track be suitable for 2wd in dry weather?

What has daylight savings got to do with anything, you have the same amount of daylight regardless, just get up earlier in summer like we used to do.
@timbates4wdadventures5 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew, Day light savings is a great time of year. Weather is generally better during that time. Plus you have about 4 hours extra day light compared non day light saving times of year. Not everyone wants to get up early either. I myself, like you, I like getting up early, it's the best time of the day. Thanks for your reply. Cheers Tim.

Sounds like it would be good to have the gates removed to allow people to enjoy it year round. Is it closed to limit the fun?
@timbates4wdadventures4 жыл бұрын
G'day mate, Im all for the seasonal gates closures. Many reasons why they are closed during winter. One is for the safety of inexperienced four wheel drivers. To stop those people that think, just because they have a 4WD they can go into the high country safely. Plus, many of the tracks that are closed are covered in a metre or more of snow and just impassable. There's still so many places that can be travelled during the closures times. Options are endless. Thanks for your reply and feedback mate. Cheers Tim.
