Geez Tim. All these beautiful spots . . . each and everyone of which, you well acknowledge . . . and not a fly rod to be seen. You're only experiencing half of the beauty and half of the fun, mate. 😁 As a boy from the late 1950's and into the mid 1960's, my family used to camp on Pineapple Flat every summer. In those days there was a bridge over the river and onto the flat. Yes . . . a bridge! A very good and solid bridge - unfortunately, not good and solid enough to stand against a pretty serious torrent at some time. I have a photograph of my dad's brand new EH Holden on that bridge with my six year old sister trying to catch the 4ft black snake that lived under the timbers - it's true - she actually had it by the tail one day. (she thought it was a skink). Ha ha ha!. These days, I'm now a 'really' (silly?) old fart with my first FWD - a newly acquired one. I'm goin' back . . . just as soon as I can be rid of this damned 'isolation'. Many happy memories up there . . . and you've rekindled them . . . good effort mate. Thanks

Good job, Tim. You sure got the best of the views on Mt Stirling on that day. We were there the day before when the smoke haze was pretty bad. We passed you on the way down Monument Track, and coincidentally followed pretty much the exact route you took, but in the opposite direction (past King Hut and up Weston Track to Mount No. 3, back to Sheepyard Flat). It was our first time in the high country, and your videos were partly responsible for inspiring us to get down there this Christmas. Sadly, as we all know, the fires since then have taken their toll. Our thanks go out to all of the emergency services and volunteers, and our condolences and prayers to those who lost so much. The communities, like the forests, have been shaped by, and adapted to fire, and will bounce back. They are as tough as nails and are what makes Australia such an amazing continent and nation. All the best for 2020, Tim. Stay safe in those hills and keep the videos rolling!

Another great video as always Tim, all my old stomping ground all up that way, sadly none of us got our wishes granted with the Gippsland fires, there is a lot of us chatting on Facebook about getting a few vehicles together and doing some trips to the fire affected areas when its safe to do so and spending some hard earned in the fire affected communities. Maybe you could lead a trip with some of your many followers from NSW & Vic to some of the fire affected areas when its safe to do so & spend some hard earned in the fire affected communities. It would be great for these communities for 10, 15 or 20 + vehicles all pulling into the local servo to get fuel, all going to the local pub to eat & all buying some supplies in the local super market.

Graat idea @@timbates4wdadventures love ya work look firward to it, as long as Im not away for work myself, working in the bush fire affected communities ( which accoring to one of our contractual companies this morning I will be ) doing communications re establishment work I hope that I can be part of it. Spending money in local communities is nothing new to our company we've been doing ot for over 20 years, when ever we ship out to a community anywhere in Aust we spend as much as possible in that community, we use the community's local resources including cranes and transports, buy all our food & fuel ( & the odd bevo, just for a Sun afternoon of course you understand 😊 ) as well as use the community for all our accom. On avarage we can spend anywhere between $5k & $20k in a community depending on how long we are there for & the size of the project & what resources we need, 12 months ago we poured over $450k into a NSW community in relation to a huge comms project that we were there for that included travel, transport, fuel, food, wages which was spent in the local community, accom, contractors & contracting services, resources, vehicle repairs, hardware, spare parts, tools, leisure activities you name it all that money paid to contractors & suppliers goes back into local community. We are looking at setting up a fund I have a meeting about it tomorrow where X % ( the amount hasn't been decided yet ) from each and every job for the next X months will be divvyed up between the charities at the end of each month. As we fan out into these communities we will also spend as much as possible from a commercial perspective in these communities just as we have always done. Rgs Wayne Thats just the the way that we have always rolled We had a crew with resources from the community on site for 3-1/2 months at a cost of $5k a day 6 days a week.

Gday mate, See how timing all goes with trips. But i wouldn't go banking on getting up on Blue Rag for Australia Day weekend. Could be a bit soon. Thanks for your feedback mate. Cheers Batesy.

Thanks Tim, another great video of areas on my to do list.(Mansfield/Bright/Dargo) Has this area been affected by the fires.? Our trip in Feb is on a wait and see at the moment. Hoping all is well with the fires and getting down ther soon.
@timbates4wdadventures4 жыл бұрын
G'day Mark, Thanks mate for your feedback, really appreciate it. The area i travel in the video hasn't been burnt yet. But we still have a long way to go with the current fires, and summer to go. Dargo area isn't good at the moment. I wouldn't plan to much just yet for a trip in February. Cheers Tim.

Tracks look narrow. How do you go passing cars that you come across?
@timbates4wdadventures3 жыл бұрын
Gday mate It is narrow in spots. If another vehicle comes the other way. Just have to make it up at the time as to who can move over or reverse up so you can both pass. Thanks for your feedback. Cheers Tim

G'day Tim, Love this video of solo camping along King River. Your knowledge of every track, where it starts and where it ends up astounds me. I suppose this is from your years of touring the VHC. For a novice like me , would I need to get a map or just rely on my GPS in the truck? Your advice would be great. Thanks
@timbates4wdadventures3 жыл бұрын
Gday Paul, Thanks mate. That was a great solo trip. Really nice country down along the King River. I would use both mate. Don’t rely just on a GPS incase they don’t work when you need it. I have a video on my channel about maps vs gps. Maybe check that out as well Thanks for your feedback, I greatly appreciate it. Cheers Tim

Gday, Thanks a lot for your reply and feedback. Such amazing views up that way. I have explored a little around Falls Creek and the Bogong High Plains. I will be going back over that way, as soon as it’s safe with the current bush fires. Stunning country up that way. Cheers Tim.

Hey Tim, Awesome video and thank you so much for providing all the details. Quick question: Do you think a stock Prado (2.8L Turbo Diesel) 2016 model, without snorkel/lift-kit would be okay for these tracks. I am planning to go by end of January.

G’day Tim,thanks for sharing your outing,a great couple of days in the good ol’ High Country 👍The tracks where the clay is must be quite good while they’re dry,but I can only imagine how greasy they’d become after a good shower of rain.You could end up anywhere,until the first substantial tree pulls you up.Nothing better than some tucker straight off the fire,and agreed,always put them out when you’re finished 👍 So you filmed this mid December?I’m guessing things are a lot worse now😢 I got myself home last night,smokey all the way.Lots of burnt country,but didn’t see any fires currently burning.Take care Tim,best wishes for 2020🙂

G'day Wayne, Cheers mate for your reply and feedback. I filmed this trip only two weeks ago. Well before the fires got as bad as they are now. For sure mate, those clay based tracks would be full on if the tracks were wet. Thanks again mate. Cheers Tim.
