I just started using 100% cotton yarns and I LOVE how they look and feel after being knit/crocheted. They are a bit tougher to work with, but it’s worth it for me. Using a smaller hook also makes it harder but the right stitches look great to me for amigurumi!

So I am very new to amigurumi. I bought your Repunzel pattern today . I’m making the arms and found it hard to hold on to it so I stuck an unsharpened pencil into the arm and continued to crochet. It helped a lot.

Thank you!! I always wondered how they got that extra poofy look. Now I know it’s by using the yarn under technique!😊😊

Something interesting about acrylic yarns is that they're made of synthetic - or man-made - materials, so they have a lot of pros and cons. The pros being that is pretty stretchy and durable, so it's great for items that are going to be touched a lot - dolls, clothes, accessories, and blankets. I've found that for my sweaters, it seems to get softer the more I wash it, though it does make those little fiber pills that i need to "shave" off occasionally. The cons here are few, in my opinion; Because it's a plastic-based synthetic, it doesn't handle heat well, so using acrylic for things like coasters or tea towels is a very bad idea! You also have to be careful about washing it, as putting in hot wash or dry setting can make it really rough and scratchy. It also tends to get snagged and wrap around things when in the washing machine, so make sure to put your yarn goods in mesh bags beforehand, or wash them separately.

Yarn under has lots of cool uses but be careful! If you get used to it, it's really hard to switch back and forth. I accidentally started doing yarn under and it took a while to get used to yarn over again for non-amigurumi projects.

Thank you so much for these tips! I was wondering how everyone’s amigurumis were made because their stitches looked different from mine and no matter what hook/ tension I used I couldn’t get the X stitch for the neater look. I would’ve never figured it out on my own. Turns out I needed to do yarn under! So informative thank you SO SO much!!

Hi there! Thanks for this great video! I do have a question. If you place the face last, how do you make the safety eyes stay in place? Glue?
@SarahTang20024 жыл бұрын
Yes, glue is good! A little dab of fabric glue under the eye before placing is enough to secure them in place. It's helpful to use something (I use a pointed nail file for example) to poke between the stitches where the eyes will be, and wiggle it around to make the hole wider for the eyes
@Amiguruku4 жыл бұрын

@themisfitowl25953 жыл бұрын
You mentioned the type of yarn and the tension, but what weight of yarn do you use? I ask because it looks like the yarn you are using may be thinner than the average DK acrylic yarn. (Double Knit yarn has a big 4 on the label, thinner and fingering yarns have 3, 2, or 1) Since thinner yarn makes a tighter tension easier and it makes a smaller (and cuter!) amigurumi, I'd really like to know. Thanks!
