The turbulence in story 1 sounds like the plane was flying through a storm and flew into a microburst ( basically a shaft of wind headed straight down vertically from the sky to the ground). It's kinda cool to see them on the ground in a forested area, not near any homes of course, because it looks like a giant punched the trees since they all fall outward in a circle. It happened in Portland, CT when I was in my 20's during one of our first ever (in my lifetime at least) tornado warnings when the sky turned greenish-black and the streetlights came on at 1pm it was so incredibly dark. The wildlife had vanished hours before the storm, it was that bad. We had straight line wind damage all over town and the NWS investigated the site of a microburst in a treed area. The pictures were awesome

Story 6; depending on the size of the plane, they’re usually designed to withstand the loss of an engine. Makes sense as to why the pilot wasn’t concerned at all. People who tend not to fly a lot don’t know things like this so worry more easily.
@t.mendous7922 Жыл бұрын
Exactly. Those aircraft are required to have a certain climb rate ability at full gross with one engine. The engines are heavily tested before going into production to make sure that if it blows up (which sounds like that happened) the explosion will be contained and all the debris will just go straight out the back. In the instance the engine really starts to shake for whatever reason, they are designed to break off the plane well before the wing structured fails. The pilot was probably just annoyed that he had to make an unexpected landing

The Morocco story reminds me of my Mexico border patrol story (minus the poop) I, a white (Casper the friendly ghost white) blonde haired blue eyed 24 year old (at the time) was on vacation with my also white fiance and his also white, blonde haired mother and her husband, Pete, who is Spanish in Arizona, road tripping from place to place. They decide to go to Tijuana. I really didn't want to go, but I didn't want to stay in the hotel alone all day. We go, end up having a good time, and made sure to get the bus schedule and make sure we always had the correct time because if you miss the last bus, you're walking back across the border or staying in TJ overnight (NO, THANK YOU) We get back in time to catch the second to last bus back. My fiance goes through the checkpoint, his mother, her husband, then it's my turn. Again, white, natural light blonde hair, blue eyes, State of Connecticut License, birth certificate and social security card..... THEY PULL ME OUT! They're interrogating me about crimes that have been committed over the last 6 months in TJ showing me pictures of an obviously Mexican girl with my bone structure and black hair, very dark skin and brown eyes and I'm just bawling my eyes out! My fiance is yelling from the other side of the desk that we're all Americans. He's yelling "she's a white chick from CONNECTICUT for Christ's sake!" They're scanning all of my documents and had my mother in law hand over my plane ticket back to Connecticut that was for our flight home a week from then and the ticket stubs showing we actually came from Connecticut and showed our whole itinerary with all of our hotel reservations including check in & check out times and room numbers and all the info of our rental car.... They told me they still didn't believe that I wasn't the Mexican criminal and to watch my back in Arizona because now they have all of our contact information and reservations & itinerary and even the license plate and info on our rental car and said they wouldn't hesitate to come get me if they found out we were lying. They took about a dozen pictures of my face, my tattoos, piercings, and my entire body. They took my fingerprints (which for some reason they couldn't actually scan that day) and took up close pictures of both my eyes to prove I wasn't wearing colored contacts. I begged them to look at the video from noon that day that showed me with my fiance & his mom & stepdad COMING OFF THE BUS FROM ARIZONA but they refused. They let me go as the last bus was about to depart, so thankfully we made it back to America that evening. My mom still gets random phone calls and strange voicemails from Arizona and Mexico to this day and this happened almost 15 years ago. They call my mom because she's the only one that still has her landline from 30+ years ago so it's the only valid number to possibly find me.... I didn't even want to go to freaking Mexico. But I got my revenge on my fiance & his stepfather, or rather Montezuma got revenge on them for me, for convincing me to go because they were dumb enough to get coffee in TJ while I bought Poland Springs bottled water.... I guess my story does have poop after all, just not mine!

It's interesting how scared of flying we are when today it is indeed the safest form of travel. It's the unknown and as someone in one of these stories stated "the feeling of all that weight taking off into the air seems unnatural." Very true statement. All that space between you and the ground is unnatural for sure. My father was a flight engineer for years and it seemed so natural and normal to him. I've flown many times in my life and it still makes me nervous and I feel like I shouldn't be up there.

@lihigers12904 жыл бұрын
Re second story: the doctor didn't ask someone for help because in am emergency you don't ask. You order people to help. If you ask "Can someone dial 911?" no one will. Because everyone would want to know what happened and offer an opinion and besides, people are not keen on volunteering for such things. So if you take charge of the situation, you also point to a specific person and say: "YOU, do this and that". This is the first thing that they teach you on reacting to a random emergency
@tammyashley73124 жыл бұрын
I'm always one to help without being asked. I save an 8 year old off the bottom of the pool at 13 and performed cpr correctly. Learned in girl gides. I've stopped at numerous car accidents and helped. I've never feared death and am very confident. People gawk driving by but those are the ones that never help. People don't want to get involved in the States because of lawsuits. You don't see that in Canada because you have to pay your own lawyer no matter if you win or lose.

I've managed to live for nearly 60 years without flying. Never had any reason to. I can't holiday anywhere sunny, as I don't tan, only burn, and find it difficult to cool down. What you might perceive as 'warm', I perceive as 'very hot'. It's always been that way, and I dread summer. It is amazing how safe an airliner is in the event of an engine failure. Sounds like this one blew up for whatever reason, and they are designed and tested to make sure the explosion is contained and just goes out the back. If the engine really has an issue and starts shaking, it is designed to break off before the aircraft structure fails. As for plummeting toward the ground, the planes are required to have enough power to be able to climb at a certain rate with one engine out. The pilot was probably more annoyed than anything else
