Speaking of a city like Milan. When we get closer to the 2026 Winter Olympics, could we get some videos on some specific things to know for those that maybe looking to attend that event? Also, do you know anything about Cortina where events like skiing will be taking place?

Not very often I see someone proposing a sensible itinerary, so this was pretty refreshing. I would consider these the most one should pack into this amount of time. In fact, consider doing slightly less to enjoy it even more.

A little advice for my well behaved cousins from across the pond 😂🇬🇧: catch that 6hr train vs short flight because you’ll have a nice view from big train window to see all the towns, villages and landscape along the way and possibly have genuine interaction with natives too or comfortably work from big train table or nap. You’ll only lose in reality couple of hours since trains can be caught from city centre 15 mins before departure whilst international flight need you to arrive 2hrs prior and getting out and reaching city after landing could be another 2hrs 🧐

Absolutelly agree. And the check in check out and TSA procedures on top of the cost and time to get to and from the airport to the city center are not needed. Easy to find hotels/motels/AIRBNB around Central Rail Stations is easy. And trains in Europe are "on time" - on intercity trains - super high speeds is often available.

Great ideas. If you’re fortunate enough to have more PTO at your job, I recommend expanding these itineraries to 2-3 weeks each. I try and go on 2 European trips a year for 2-3 weeks at a time and it is so much nicer to have a more relaxed trip than cramming a lot of things into a shorter amount of time.
@strangerdanger8462
@strangerdanger8462 7 ай бұрын
My sentiments exactly. Like you, I do 2 Europe trips every year too and I spend 2-3 weeks on each. It's just more enjoyable to slow down and enjoy the locations. You get back home feeling refreshed. Cramming so much into 10 days would be stressful and you'd return home needing time to recover from your vacation. Defeats the point of the vacation, doesn't it? But if one doesn't have enough PTO from work, I guess they'll have to cram.

Great video. I love the thought you put into these trips, trying to see as much as possible while still enjoying it along the way in the most efficient way. For the Positano trip, I would suggest taking the ferry from Sorrento. It’s likely shorter, and you get to see the entire coastline which is a jaw dropping experience. And if you leave at night, you’ll get to see the entire coastline lit up which is also stunning

Europe always surprises, each country, even each region, is a different world. I am Spanish and if I had to recommend only one country it would be Italy. Three cities, Paris, London and Barcelona, three regions, Tuscany, Andalusia and the Loire Valley. But Europe is much more, the Danubuo, the fjords, the Greek islands, the alps....fortunately or unfortunately we are a continent where history, monuments, art, cultural and geographical diversity are more concentrated than nowhere else in the world

@@Graycee92 Yes, early November may be in that transition between Fall and waiting for enough snow to start ski season. But you would probably see some of the first snow falls which would be nice. We were there last Oct 8-10 and the weather was great - cool mornings and sunny afternoons in the upper 60s. We based in Ortisei where we could take gondolas North and South to great alpine meadows. If the gondolas stay open in November then this would be beautiful.

You videos have been so helpful. I am taking my family of four that includes my daughts 12 and 11 on a 37-day trip beginning in London and going to Paris, Venice, Florence, Rome, Barcelona, Lisbon, and Porto. The only thing I am second guessing are some of the tours. Since we are only in Venice 3 nights I am on the fence about taking the Legendary Venice St. Mark's Basilica with Terrace Access & Doge's Palace that starts at 8 AM. Am I better off getting skip the lines for both places and exploring alone or is the tour worth it? Thanks for any insight.
@awaytogether
@awaytogether 8 ай бұрын
I am pro 'skip the line' anywhere that gets busy. And St. Mark's gets incredibly busy. I love local guides and authentic experiences, but I am almost always an 'explore alone' kind of person for sites like these. However, the Doge's Palace Secret Itineraries Tour is fun and intimate (as they cap the group sizes) and I would pay to do it again.

the program ideas for an extended week still seem packed to me - considering that traveling from North America eastwards to Europe comes with jet lag problems and you will need an day to adjust and where you are not fit for heavy sight seeings. Europeans would plan 2 weeks for those trips and would not even have the jet lag issue.

The most important thing to learn in Italy for Americans: how REAL pizzas are made! It has a very crisp crust, thin and only a few ingrediensers on, mostly in the colors of Italy : red green White , it is not how much filing you get. Itis all about less is more. Pozzas was made by poor people who did not have a lot of food! Deep pan is NOT a pizza if you ask people

I went to Morocco and Spain for 2 1/2 weeks last May, so I can give some advice, if you'd like. 😊 One good way to save time is to fly into and out of different airports. For me, the cost was no different. I flew into Marrakech, and, after sightseeing on my own for a day in the city, I took the 3-day Marrakech-Sahara-Fez tour I booked using Viator (one way, so I wouldn’t be backtracking), and then I visited Chefchaouen for a lovely morning before taking another bus to Tangier to get on a ferry to cross the Strait of Gibraltar. If you have less time, though, you could always spend a day in Marrakech, do a one-day desert trip (not all the way to the Sahara, but you can at least have a camel ride), and then fly to Seville. There are flights from there to Seville on some days of the week, but not all (at least last year). Five days in Andalucía was not enough (for me), but it was possible to see the main sights in Seville, the Mosque-Cathedral in Córdoba, and the Alhambra and other main sights in Granada. No time for Ronda, though. 😢 It is easy to find bus tickets between the different cities using Omio. Then, I took the train to Madrid, where I spent another five days (Madrid historical sites and museums for 2 days, then Toledo, El Escorial, and Segovia). Then, I flew home straight from MAD. Honestly, I thought 5 days in Andalucía and 5 in Madrid would be enough, but there is SO much to see and experience in both of these regions. I would wholeheartedly recommend focusing in on just one or two regions at most per trip, since Spain is such a diverse country with so much culture and so many amazing sights in each one of its regions. ❤ I hope there was something helpful in all of that. 😅 Good luck with your trip planning! I am going to Barcelona this summer, myself, and very excited! 😁

Could be more helpful advice on how to see the most expensive and overtouristed parts of Italy. Much better advice on Bavaria. Use the train system throughout Bavarian using the amazingly valuable Bayernticket. 100% on Vienna, Bratislava and Salzburg. Beware overtouristed Hallstatt Prague and Budapest makes a great trip as described Brilliantly adds the trip to Marrakesh to an excellent trip to Spain. The accommodation at Plitvice Lakes is basic and probably a remnant of the communist era, but fun all the same. I have also spent a couple of weeks in beautiful Istria and the Cinque Terre - amazing, especially if you have your own vehicle in Istria. We stayed in a small village called Fiorini and travelled out every day on the peninsular. An afternoon/ evening meal in Rovinj next to the road leading up to the church and watching bridal parties walk up to the top for the weddings, and then back down again was so entertaining. The food was great and the sunset was stunning. Thank you both for your awesome KZbin channel. It is both informative and inspirational.

Prague is amazing! Add some other towns to Northern Italy like Emilia-Romagna. Heading to Vienna and Bratislava in May, thanks for the tips. Found your channel recently and am learning a lot! Thanks. Safe and happy travels.

In europe sometimes they make lot of swaps,normally they would not accept something that matter to you but when they make swaps it's different. Sometimes the things that they swap is not meant for you and vs things that is not really "meant" for you or at this time or for consuming or correctly. When I'll go back me I'll bring lot of things,but very nice ones from my choice and that I'll buy and for gifts.

Wouldn't go anywhere near Naples at the moment. The super volcano Campi Flegrei is rumbling at the moment and they're trying to work out an evacuation plan.

I think the issue with the short European trips is the price of the flights. I'm trying to move into the "slow travel" process, one flight, stay there for a few months.

I attack a whole country in 9 days and I get to see place I absolutely love and I write them down on places I would like to stay longer, but I like to keep moving.

Amalfi town is better than positano! Smaller and less crowded and some amazing hidden beaches with literally no more than 10 people on them! Go there next time! Amazing! Stay at La ninfa hotel. On the cliff with the private beach right below It $220 a night!
