Every year, huge numbers of people fall ill while working or performing other activities in hot environments. In the U.S. alone, hundreds die annually from heat-related illnesses.
Almost everyone can be exposed to heat on jobs, outdoors or in hot indoor environments. Operations involving high air temperatures, radiant heat sources, high humidity, direct physical contact with hot objects, or strenuous physical activities have a high potential for causing heat-related illness.
Occupational exposures in the workplace are common, but exposures off-the-job far outnumber workplace incidents.
In addition, heart attacks, respiratory failure, fainting, falling and many other major injuries and illnesses can be traced to hot environment exposures.
Preventing illnesses, injuries and deaths from activities in hot environments requires awareness of the environmental factors - but more important - it requires that people become aware of the physical
clues their bodies provide when they are in danger of overexertion in a hot environment.
This short video describes 7 ways to prevent heat exhaustion, heat stroke and other heat-related illnesses, injuries and deaths.
Understand and apply these 7 guidelines, and share them with your employers, employees, co-workers and family members. You may just save someone's life.

It gets pretty hot here in Brisbane, the best thing I have found to do to keep cool is to wear a good cotton shirt and keep it wet by taking it off and placing it under running water I then ring it out and put it back on it ,this will keep you cool for around 30 minutes just repeat when needed... if you are in public and don't want to be showing your body a very light cotton tank top can be worn underneath which will get wet when you wet the outer shirt, doing this will always keep your core temperature around 37degrees C,so you won't overheat ,HATS: straw hats are the best with very wide brims, stay in the shade where ever possible and always drink a lot of water ,

Yeah, but what about the humidity? I'm so damn tired of staying indoors in front of the A/C. Heat is one thing, but the humidity is another. Makes it even harder to breathe.

I'd recommend everyone to find the comfort of a running fan, when they can. It isn't that cold all the sudden.

buy SPACE BLANKETS for £1 each duct tape them to any and all windows this will reflect the harsh sunlight back out thus cooling the house you could also put them up in the loft/attic but dont go up there in a heat wave as it will be roasting hot
