Yes I’m a chronic overwaterer,I use a premium shop bought potting mix and add in the amendments you use to make it more chunky. I also use water from boiled eggs rice if I wash it,leftover coffee/ tea watered down. When my adult son moved in back,he was boiling potatoes and I asked him not to our the water down the sink but to use it for a plant. Next day I walked out onto the patio and looked at my jasmine that was growing beautiful up a pole, it was totally melted, I asked him,did you cool the potato water before using on the plant, he ‘ NO’ , apparently I forgot to tell him to let it cool down first Ahhhhhhh! 😫 it was totally cooked! ☠️☠️ I never salt my water for cooking veg and stuff! Great video Harli…. 💚🪴 Natalie

your hair looks SO cute! the outfit, everything is a cute vibe! thanks for the great tips! i live in San Diego + we have hard, gross water here. i was killing my plants when i first started caring for them a few years ago w the hard water + over watering. i was using distilled water, but that got too expensive/ time consuming to haul from store to home as my collection grew. the drinking water filter we have dispenses very cold water so that wasn't an option for my plants either. i started filling empty gallon jugs w tap water, using water conditioner + WOW my plants are doing AMAZINGLY well. i can also add in diluted fertilizer at the same time, it's been a game changer for me :)

Just an FYI, boiled water does not remove chloramine or fluoride. It actually increases the amount because of the water vapor that escapes. I'm not saying don't use scrap water but just be aware if these are the chemicals your city uses so you can adjust anything if you need to.

My statement only refers to chloramine, not chlorine. A lot of cities have switched to chloramine and no longer use chlorine. You'd have to look at the actual filter to know what it's rated to remove. I think most filters would remove these though.

FYI: Perlite naturally contains fluoride so the plants she mentioned that are sensitive to fluoride generally do better with a soil mix that doesn’t contain perlite. Peace lilies and Dracaenas especially I’ve noticed. Regarding water, collect rain water. It is slightly acidic which really helps plants absorb nutrients better. Dehumidifier water also works well for plants. 😊

Yes! I absolutely have considered that. I live in plain city, so very nearby. I just would have to fill so many jugs to get all my plants watered 😂 do you know if they shut it off in winter or is it something available during the winter too? So far my plants are loving the nasty pine view water … probably bc it’s extra poopy 😂

@HarliG In the summer, I would use about 6 5-gal jugs a week to water my plants and to drink. I believe they shut off the main stump location in the winter, but a second location is opened up like 30 feet away. I am not sure why.
