Justin, excellent video! I've had the DJI 4 Pro since August of last year, still a newbie to a degree. (my first 4 Pro I was flying near a huge waterfall in North Carolina and lost sight of it against the rusing white water. I hit the RTH and it landed in across the raging river. I had the coordinates but it was extremely dangerous to retrieve, even though I bushwhacked down to its location it was still risky to get ...whatever). You said "Fly more" and you're absolutely spot on! I do watch a few other you tubers but after watching I'm still wondering what they were talking about lol. You my friend, make sense of everything you talk about and I want to thank you for that.

Hey! Thank you for your kind words. I'm sad to hear you lost the drone in the river. But it sounds like you have another and are back in the air again, which is a big plus 😃 Flying more will give you so much more confidence. It's like driving a car. At first it's very strange. But after a while you do it without even having to think. I just want to see people have an enjoyable time with their drones and get some really cool footage. I try to make these videos easy to understand and helpful, so I'm really glad that you are finding that to be the case 😃

Now all I need is some warmer weather up here in Canada so I can start putting what I have learned from your tutorials into practice. 😀 Come on Spring!

Another great tutorial Justin. Good advice on just shooting smaller clips rather than the whole time up in the air. I just need to practice on the controls : up is down and down is up.😀😀

You're welcome Cheryl! It's the little tricks that make a big difference. Haha, yep, more practice is always good 😅🙃

Thanks Justin for another great video, looks like planning before a trip out is key, I’ve just started writing some notes before going out so I don’t forget anything 🤞

After about 3 years, I've finally upgraded my original Mavic Mini to the new Mini 4 Pro... WOW it's good! Just trying to decide whether or not I actually need a set of ND filters...
@JustinBainbridgeYT5 ай бұрын
Wow that's a nice upgrade! Yeah some people will make more use out of them than others but its really down to if you want motion blur or you're happy with the footage as it is. 😃

Hi there. I've just subscribed. Love you tutes. I've got a questions. When looking at my remote control I've got a tonne of zebra type stripes that looks like it's highlighting various objects. This makes it difficult for me to see what I'm actually filming. Any tips on getting ride of those?
@JustinBainbridgeYT4 ай бұрын
Hey! Sorry for the late response. Those zebra lines are the over exposure warnings. You can disable them in the menu - camera - over exposure warning. Hope this helps 😃

I'm thinking about getting an underwater drone (maybe the PowerVision PowerRay), there's not much information on KZbin. Anything you know about them? Something you'd be interested in in the future?
@JustinBainbridgeYT5 ай бұрын
I haven't heard much about the PowerRay however I do know that their phone gimbal is pretty good, so if thats anything to go by then I would expect it to be okay. It looks to be okay from my perspective. 😃 Something I could definitely be interested in as I'm not a big fan of snorkelling but would still like to experience cool underwater sites.

In Patagonia I was filming a video about nature in Chile, I have several decades of experience as a DP but I had no experience flying drones, I hired a drone pilot and the images were finally a great help, but the guy flew recording without interruption , it also shows that there is no shooting plan, which is very negative as a videographer. It is a huge waste of time to review all the files. I think there is a difference with being a good drone pilot and videographer, my goal now is to become both in one.
@JustinBainbridgeYT5 ай бұрын
Yep I agree. It's not effecient to do, nor does it foster a mindset of being purposeful with your clips. Whilst videography skills cross over to drone, flying them and other management bits that come along with drones do need to be learned in order to get the most out of the flying camera. Thanks for your input 😃

I disagree with your #1. It is far easier to just record everything and then edit in post. SD cards are cheap, disk space is cheap, and nothing worse than missing something because you were trying to be judicial.... there is no going back.
@JustinBainbridgeYT5 ай бұрын
Hey! I believe recording individual clips is much more effecient and purposeful. The time taken to go through a 30 minute file in post in comparison to 10 X 30 second clips is not comparable. Although disk space is cheap if you fill the SD card and run out of space then you are more likely to miss something. I don't believe that missing something is too much of concern with drones due to the nature of the shots we are aiming to capture. Thinking through your shots will result in much better quality footage in my opinion. Thanks for your input 😃
