I think that Anik gave us good tips on recovering and how to spot the signs of burnout. On the other hand, as guy who experienced a real severe burnout, quit his job and that's still recovering from it, I must say that 3-5 days may not be enough for the real hardcore burnouts... It can be a very slow and frustrating process specially at the begining. What I can assure you is that even in a severe burnout there's still hope as long as you manage to get away from what is causing you to burnout as fast as possible(hint: its not your fault and most probably you have a terrible boss or toxic workplace) . It can be challenging to quit or change, but its the only way... After that, If you start looking at yourself in a more compationate way, if you look out for help and if you are trying to bond again with family and friends, you will eventually get better. When I quit my job, I felt reliefed and at the same time I was scared that my own battery would never recharge over 5%... A week after that, it was like 10% A month after that, 15% Today I fell like I have 70% of the energy I once had in the moment I was most motivated in my life. Although its not the same, it is 12x the energy I had my my lowest point in life and thats something to celebrate. For you who are passing through burnout right now, I wish that you get better! Try not to beat yourself because of it. It can happen with anyone and its mostly related to toxic workplaces than with anything else...
