Now that I have found this video I use it as my training guide and refresher for the corner styles I don't use much. Great little video, thank you for your work making it.

oh goodness! i am so FREAKING GLAD I AM WATCHING THIS!! I make canvas tote bags and my ends be so uneven when i put them together. i am going to get me some scrap fabric and practice the first process. i like that one.

GUYS! I JUST TRIED NUMBER 1 AND IT WORKS LIKE A CHARM! PERFECT CORNERS! THIS IS A GAME CHANGER FOR ME IN MY BAG MAKING! But, don't get me wrong, the block cut method is great too, but sometimes, the ends are not straight after you cut them out on a 4cm by 4cm or 5cm by 5cm block when you put them together. i LOVE THE NUMBER ONE WAY. JUST SEW THE SIDES AND BOTTOM, BRING THE ENDS TO A CORNER POINT, MEASURE WHERE YOU WANT TO SEW (DRAW THAT LINE IS SO HELPFUL) SEW ON THE LINE, THEN CUT A CM ABOVE THE SEWING LINE AND BOOM! YOU GOT A NICE, STRAIGHT, BOXED CORNER. LOVE THIS! I WILL BE DOING THIS METHOD FROM NOW ON!

I agree! I find it is easier to make a triangle and match the seams (if you have them and you want them to match) and sew a line across opposite of the top angle.

I think 1 and 4 are my favourite ways to do bag bottoms. I love to make gussets because you have greater control over just how wide you want your bag and it doesn't require as much fabric in 1 piece as the T shaped method. But I am going to try #3 and #5 next time I make my grocery tote bags. Btw, I'm a subscriber for your other channel.

Great video! Learned some cool new ways to box a bottom. Have question, how do you determine a size for a boxed bottom? I need to make one that's 13" for a stand cover. Do I measure 6 1/2" from the point and do I need to include the that amount of fabric (13") in the length of the stand? Thanks for the help?

The only difference is whether the seam goes on the bottom or the sides. The technique is the same. 1 & 2 are also the same as eachother.

I use the first method but the bottom of the bag come shorter than the top. how should i do to have the top and bottom the same length? Thank you!
@SueC562 жыл бұрын
The height. width and depth of the bag depend on the original measurements and how big of a corner your sew. If that doesn't answer your question, please clarify.

When I want perfect alignment I use pins or basting stitches
@cateelisabethlsn64002 жыл бұрын
it never works with 2 rectangle pieces of fabric, you cut corners, so it's obvious the bottom has less cm than the top, you should add the number of centimeters extra to the bottom of your fabric, if you cut 4cm then your fabric must be 4cm wider on the bottom. A symmetrical trapezium. Do you get it?

Close, but not exactly the same. The fold is different. One fold goes along the length of the bag (side) and the other along the width of the bag (bottom).
