It's amazing what he did for the exposure of martial arts cinema in the West, but we know for sure he wasn't actually a fighter. You can't develop fighting skill without applied practice. That's incontrovertible. Lee discovered years into his career that many of his main martial art concepts were rubbish, and completely dropped the arts that were based around them (mostly that trapping range doesn't exist in a fight and the issues that come from not learning to hand fight from the clinch, but there was even more than that). If he had ever had any applied practice he would have realized this immediately. This means that applied practice was never a significant part of his training, and therefore that he never had an opportunity to develop real fighting skill. It's perfectly possible to develop incredible acrobatic ability that looks deadly on screen without ever learning to properly land a punch on a resisting opponent. It's actually easier. And considering how (blessedly) rare violence is in our modern communities, it's also easy to convince an uninformed audience that the stuff on screen and the stuff in the ring are one and the same.

I was a backyard wrestler and loved ICP. The backyard games were a freakin dream come true. Now, Im uh, only going to admit that on the internet

Having 'There Goes The Neighborhood' in a video game? That's a bold move.

Weird that you didn't at least make a sidenote in the section about Fred Durst's appear in Smackdown to mention that he also appeared in the (insanely bad) Fight Club game.

You know why there are Chuck Norris jokes and not Bruce Lee Jokes? Because when you say that shit about Bruce Lee, people believe you.

The fact that Negan in Tekken 7 is just one of that game's many insane guest characters like okay what's a rich French girl going to do against Noctis from Final Fantasy

sounds like we need a mash up off all these people in one fighting game to find the ultimate real person guest character fighter actually is

The Wu Tang Clan videogame should have been on this list. Yes, martial arts are half of the inspiration for their songs, and they sampled them heavily, but it is still way weird.

The PS2 port of Matrimelee features Bobby Strong, based on and voiced by Nigerian-born Japanese comedian Bobby Ologun. Or there's Norimaru from the Japanese versions of Marvel Super Heroes VS Street Fighter.

Technically Snoop Dog was in a fighting game as a boss in the video game “Def Jam: Fight for NY” as the character named “Crow”

I'd say Fred Durst's appearance in Fight Club (PS2) is even weirder, considering the entire point of the movie that game was based on.

I forget which game it was but there was a fighting game where Fred Durst was like the Dan Hibiki of the game. His attacks were extremely weak, he slapped his opponent or threw awkward punches. He would also cry when he lost

Not a fighting game, but I think Nick Cage bring in Dead by Daylight as his real-world self is similarly strange and hilarious
