any idea of what windows on keyboard attached to a Chromebook does?

I tested a keyboard on my Chromebook. If you press the Windows key by itself, it opens the Chrome OS shelf (the area at the bottom of the Chromebook screen with your shortcuts). Other than that, I don't know if there are any usable key combinations. But there are keyboard shortcuts built in to Chrome. Just Google "chromebook keyboard shortcuts" to find lists of those.

Instead of clicking the Window Key and a numeral you could alway just click the icon in the task bar. You will need to count to see which one it is anyway.
