I Think that shelob could actually have a human form, if she really wanted. Shelob is said to be an “evil thing in spider form” and it was offspring of ungoliant, a primordial spirit in spider form. But I think she would never be a sexy girl but a fat drooling woman, and she wouldn’t try to intervene in the fate of middle earth like that cause she only lived to dwell in darkness and eat.

Literally worthless when you could have spent all that time earning money instead of lifting his curse. I would have hoped he'd have at least given him a Rich Man Wallet or something to hold the maximum amount of gems instead of killing the last 50 or so... Or a rare something or other. Not literally the thing the moral of the story is telling you is not worth a curse. I usually save the entire family, but the father that gives 200 rupees... Actually, the whole "Shelob is a cosmic being that got to choose to be a spider", while obviously not what Tolkein had in mind, doesn't really stretch the canon much. Her mother was an ongodly cosmic power of ultimate darkness more than a match for any of this setting's equivalents to Archangels / Greek Gods which just happened to take a vaguely spider-y form. I'm betting Ungoliant could have opted to wear whatever form it wanted to and went with Spider, the same way tons of Maiar got their pick of shapes and went with 20 foot tall demon monsters, while their peers went for "basically just elves". It's the thing everyone treats as them trampling all over the lore, but in reality, it's more like them going for some of the Deep Cuts of the cosmology/history most people will never read (because the Silmarillion isn't a great read, or even full of great ideas.) and making a couple of fairly reasonable guesses.

The Silmarillion isn't a great read or full of good ideas? You do realize that Tolkien literally spent almost five decades of his life working on it? It was an obsession for him. He was constantly tweaking the smallest interactions in his legendarium between the most insignificant of creatures and the most important. If Tolkien himself were alive to see how his characters were malformed by these companies, he probably wouldn't allow another adaption to be made ever again... At the end of the day, the guy provided so much source material that there is literally no conceivable reason to add to it other than base narcissism. If you appreciate anything he did with the Lord of the Rings, you should at least read the damned book before you go trashing it.

Side note: In dark souls, you're tasked by quelana, the only daughter not horribly disfigured to kill her sister that quelaag was protecting, it being a mercy killing as she is in tremendous pain. Thats not the worst part though. If you do take up this task and kill "the fair lady while wearing the witchs ring, you'll hear her dying words which are a mixture of confusion as to why you, who she believes is her sister quelaag, would do this. She spent her entire life in pain and in the end died in pain believing her sister had betrayed her. Seriously, what the fuck, dark souls?

Great writing and gags in this video, a nice counterpoint to the nightmarish subject matter. Speaking of nightmares, who remembers Dirge of Cerberus, the Oh So Edgy spin-off to Final Fantasy VII? One of the daft new villains is Nero the Sable, whose superpower lets him banish his foes into a screaming void of darkness. He can venture into the void himself, and once inside he metamorphoses into a colossal cyborg arachnid for some reason. Arachnero isn't the most horrendous thing in the game; it's not even the most horrendous thing about Nero personally. But it is a fairly memorable spider transformation nonetheless.

I just realized that the rupee you get from the guy is actually a sign he HAS changed. He was cursed for greed, and as gratitude, he gives away money. And not just a little, but the largest amount possible from a single rupee. He is giving his money to you in gratitude for freeing him. He is no longer consumed by greed, but gratitude.

Identity V features a character called Violetta, aka Soul Weaver, who was born without arms or legs. Naturally she decided the best way to deal with this was to build a hybrid between a sewing kit and a giant spider exoskeleton around herself (with help of course). She seems pretty thrilled with the results honestly.

In Hollow Knight's Deepnest the only thing worse than the actual spiders chasing you with knife arms and shooting projectiles at you are the basic enemies, who after you kill them, are infected/reanimated and come skittering after you with what I can only call TOO MANY LEGS. It's the sound that gets me.

If I'm being honest, in highschool i made a character named Spinner who was the child of a spider who took on human form and a werewolf. The boy looked very wolfish, could never shapeshift, had allergies to food you'd expect a dog to have but not as bad or as deadly, and he had 8 thick, black widow like spider legs. He was super adorable though.
