My only regret is that their was no mention of the fact that while he doesn't defeat himself for you past Pete actually helps you against current Pete... you are literally fighting with the boss to defeat the boss.

Though it's also the past Pete wasn't bad where as he became bad in the future, Future Pete also is doing it because his life ended up going miserably. I think he was doomed if he did and doomed if he didn;t as his original direction he also self sabotages himself as well as his his future attempt.

Pro tip: You don't actually have to have a metal shield in Breath of the Wild. Any shield will do as long as you time the reflect right. So you can take those stuck guardians out on the beginning plateau as long as you have a shield (Many wood ones widely available around there including a pot lid)

I didn't know either of those facts about BotW and I consider myself a seasoned veteran, with perhaps not a very impressive seasoning since I tend to mess up on the easy parts instead of the hard parts usually.. but I found it funny they acted like Guardians were the toughest enemy in the game!! Yeah, before you're prepared one can easily one shot you but MANY people consider Gandondorf to be much easier than Lynels!

The hollow knight from Hollow Knight quite literally stabs himself after a phase or two. And it does more damage to him if you do not hit him during it. Giving you time to heal or even using the dreamnail to gain more soul.

You could've added the Bowser battle in Super Mario Bros 3. Where you have to avoid being crushed by Bowser while on a brick bridge. Each time Bowser misses you, a brick brakes. And soon, he brakes so many bricks, he ends up falling to his doom, and you're able to save the princess.

I have heard a theory that the Radiance was still in control and purposely doing that to release more Infection.. but I still feel like that THK most likely was struggling for control and was doing that to help,, Having "an idea instilled" was the whole reason they weren't truly Hollow, and (perhaps cut content?) Dream Nail dialogue showed that they were in fact a kind person.. the only problem being unless you embraced the Radiance's control it would drive you mad until it took over anyways.. but again, poor Myla shows that there is a transitional phase.. Sorry about arguing both sides back and forth like that, the TL;DR is that if I was told an official statement said either one I'd be just as content with their answer compared to the other one xD

Chrono Trigger. One of the bosses has a charge attack that takes an insanely long time to get worked up, and if for some reason you can't beat it in that time, it's done in by its fear of heights. Because, of course, you're fighting on the deck of an airship.

reminds me of a silly video where someone was trying to defeat bosses with JUST a horse, by ONLY ramming a horse into them or using the horse's kick attack... he struggled with a guardian for a while, until someone suggested ramming it's legs, THAT beat it VERY quickly!

He doesn't really have an excuse. while he does consider the possibility of you using a portal gun, he fails to consider the possibility of you finding a way to use it as you trick him into shooting his cannon at a pipe to release conversion gel... and then he continues firing his cannon that you can now send the shots back at him.

Speaking from recent experience, what about False Knight from Hollow Knight? Similar to Crush, it's his rage that causes the arena to collapse, allowing you to get to his squishy face. You could argue that it's still you that defeats him, but he's actually physically unkillable until the floor has caved underneath him. *I'm thinking of opening an anger management support group for bosses.*

In Dark Souls 3, during the first stage in the fight against the Abyss Watchers , you can get them to hit each other, starting a fight where one "clone" fights another. I mean, sure, you still have to deal with at least one of them, but it still makes it a lot easier

Ever heard of a game called Cold Fear? I think that was it -- the survival horror game that took place on a ship in the middle of a hurricane? Well, the final boss is completely impervious to damage... Except when he grabs you, picks you up and holds you right in front of his face. Then you can point blank him for damage.

I don't know if this counts, but my favorite is Darth Sion from KotOR. You can keep killing him over & over & he just comes back to life. The only way to kill is to talk nice to him. His hatred (he's called The Lord of Hatred) keeps him alive & powers him. So if you talk nice to him he stops hating for a little bit & just accepts his death...

reminds me of something i read in a gaming magazine: one of the early "Dark Forces" games had an expansion pack where you play as Mara Jade, and at the end you are forced to fight Kyle Katarn, BUT it's a trick, simply put your lightsaber away, so you are empty-handed, and he will see the Light(side).

@@oliverpease6719 Robbie. Ancient shafts. Shafts drop from guardians. You got your arrows, hunt the big ones. You don't have arrows, go fight some guardians in challenge shrines. They respawn with the blood moon. One shaft = one arrow. You'll get a quiver full in no time.

this doesn't QUITE count, but i think it's worth mentioning: the SNES game, "final fantasy 2" (one of the mis-numbered ones), an optional boss, Bahamut, who lives on the moon. a book in the "realm of summons" says he can only be beaten by "bouncing his own attack back at him". using the "wall" spell to reflect his spell IS the only effective way to handle him. beating him is a long side quest, BUT it's probably worth it to learn the "summon bahamut" spell which effectively hits ALL enemies with the "nuke" spell at once!

I don't think I can ever hear the line "Go forth, Sora, Donald, and Goofy", without mentally replaying Ellen's snarky alt version. Let's hope I remember this right. The Centaur from the Hercules game: you can hit him with anything - fists, magic swords, nothing works. You had to stand in front of a tree at the edge of the screen, when he charges at you, quickly jump away. He bumps his head, dazed for a moment (I don't remember if you can hit him at this point or not). Rinse and repeat 4 or 5 times and he's dazed for a long time. Now is the moment to punch him very hard, sending him flying skyward. He then falls back down, but he's still standing. Oh, his horseshoes are coming down too, hitting him on head, and finishing the fight.

So glad you added Meat Golem (or Little Horn, I remembered the level called Meat Golem but ok) loved the music in that one, but there was another boss who hit themselves and their action stage had great music. Gate from MMX6 , his fortress music was awesome, but in his boss fight, his only weakness is the orbs he shoots out getting hit back at him... yes, I stayed on topic of bosses hitting themselves.

I mean, in the original _Silent Hill_ game, if you enter the boss room with no ammo, it dies automatically. This might actually be canonical, too, since an old diary of Harry's that Heather can find in Lakeside Amusement Park states that, when born, the god, "wailed once, and was dead." Meaning that, by the rules of the game's mechanics, Harry would've _had_ to meet Dahlia (and the reformed Alessa) with absolutely no ammo on his person (Samael/Baphomet/Literally Satan cannot be fought with melee weapons). So, yeah! Not only can you *survive* the final trial of Silent Hill by simply showing up empty-handed, _Silent Hill 3_ made that *exact* strategy canon!

Other Spyro bosses can be tricked into hurting themselves too; Gulp with his rockets, Mecha Gulp with his fire snake, Metalhead with any of his attacks, and the Sorceress with her homing fireballs ( you have to be on the saucer)
