The worst thing about living in Madison is that it’s close to Jackson, and it’s in the deep south which means it’s hot as hell ten months of the year. Walkable community? Who cares, who’s trying to walk anywhere? Again, hot all the time. Omg, you guys are nuts talking about public transportation, and traffic (Dallas has traffic), and thank god mayor Mary has said no apartments in the city limits (Ridgeland has apartments, and all that goes with them).

A lot of people ask us about walkable areas, typically referring to a community where its a short walk to groceries, shops, restaurants, parks, etc. Public transportation also comes up for people coming from bigger cities who just arent used to having to drive everywhere. I personally prefer to drive vs public, but some of the walkable areas i've seen in some other cities are nice. AND it is not hot 10 months out of the year 😂. Its really hot 2-3 months, I actually like it most of the year.

@@LivingInJackson You’re actually going to tell me it’s not hot down here? It’s hot, and humid, right now.
@LivingInJackson Жыл бұрын
@@ShadeIsLikely I'm telling you no such thing. It is hot now, but its not hot 10 months out of the year. Its already cooler, and in another month it won't really be hot at all. Have you always lived here or are you from somewhere up north? 80 Degrees aint hot lol

@@LivingInJackson Born and raised right here in this swamp…58 years now. And there’s about two, maybe three months out of the year that you can walk out the door and not be sticky and wet by the time you get the kids strapped into their car seats. I went to college in TN and graduate school in AR. They have nice weather, cool every night, much lower humidity, usually a little snow but nothing severe. But as my grandmother used to say, “yes, there are better places than here, but you’ve got to grow where you are planted”. And I have, quite nicely in fact. But when I retire in a couple of years I’m going back to TN…Knoxville most likely.

Its walkable out near Madison Ave School...

They do have some trails/sidewalks, but we were more thinking the “walk to the grocery store, walk to restaurants” type of walkable area.

Fontanelle and reunion have good newly build houses but very very expensive. Look in gluckstadt, not very old houses and reasonably priced.

Gluckstadt is booming! Everytime I go up there its like there a whole new strip mall or grocery store

Madison Co. includes Canton. The worst part is being sandwiched between Jackson and Canton. If you plan on moving to Jackson and want to not have to sell your house after 5-10 years… move 30 minutes out. Look at Ridgeland. Northpark will be the new Metro Center soon. Really soon.

Canton is a lot better place for me to live. The only crime ever committed against me in Canton was my babysitter stole my savings ($11) in 1959 when I was 10 years old.

Most of these “issues” are the reasons people move to Madison. They want to be in suburbia far away from the hustle and bustle. I enjoy the 20+ car ride home because it allows me to decompress after a long day. No where in Mississippi should prioritize walk ability because, as you mentioned, the heat is horrendous.
@LivingInJackson2 ай бұрын
I agree with you, a lot of those are the reason they move there. But everybody is different and if you didn't like those things, its probably not the place for you. On the subject of walkability, I actually like having an area where you can walk to things to do and shops. Its nice even if it is hot.

Madison needs a sports complex with SOME turf field, not all turf. Youth athletics lag behind other cities that do have turf & sports complex during wet/extreme heat or cold periods. Currently, public park areas are not as large as recommended to support the population of city.
@LivingInJackson7 ай бұрын
For the turf and field, you do have the Madison healthplex. And I’m not sure how many parks they need. You have some great parks in Madison. And Liberty park is huge. Do you live in Madison?

At first I thought that all of these things were mentioned in the video, so I watched the whole thing. When I see that they weren’t yet the “professional” realtors still responded to this racist coded comment, it let me see the realtors’ true colors. It seems no matter how “polite” people appear, when you cater to biased and hateful comments like the one above you might as well just bust out your pointed white sheets.
