LOL...actually a swimmer swims in the age group he belonged to on the first day of the sanctioned meet. For example...if he turns 9 on Saturday and the meet is Fri/Sat/Sun he can still compete in the 8-u on Sunday. When I was swimming 45 years ago I tried to get my coach to sanction a year long meet to assist in my record breaking...LOL...needless to say he never pursued this sanction.

I believe he is 7. My son was the average height of a 12 year old when he was 7. At age 4, on his first day in pre-k the teacher tried to put him in line with the 1st graders :D. He could kick me upside the head when he was 9. Ha! This young man is going to be tall. And if he doesn't lose interest in swimming could be an Olympic contender. Who knows. Long and lean gives a good head start.

He did the 25 meters of the fly in 17 seconds. When I was two years older than him, my best time was 23 seconds, AND that was in a 25 meter sprint, not an 100 IM. This kid is a beast.

But at least I am a bit free unlike many of my friends who are settling down, they are getting engaged, married, buying appartments/houses, having babies etc. Meanwhile I am single grad student who basically can do whatever I want when I have time.

Butterfly is AMAZING!! His backstroke kick was bent at the knees, though, and he got out of the pool before all the other swimmers! Not nice and impolite! Otherwise, very. Good!

Nice !!!! I have 2 boys, and they are also 7 years old. They train with 3-4 years older boys, and they are still faster than they are. Callahan is better in butterfly, but I think that in free-style he would have big problems with them. Who knows, mybe they will meet somewhere, and fight for medal. nayway, congratulations, Callahan swims like a champ !!

When i was little my best stroke was back so i always got ahead in back and sometimes breast but its awesome how hes soooo good at fly at that age!!!!! Great job!!! :D Buuut since i know backstroke, he needs to kick with straight legs and keep the knees out of the water but other than that, hes pretty good!!
