Haha thanks! I usually feel that a song isn't really done without lyrics (or at least without singing it easily sounds likecomputer game music or something) so when it's a real song I sing as well. With a little melodyne here an there :-)

How do you produce such a tune with fingerdrumming? Do you start with programmed draft and then replace programmed parts with real instruments? Or do you initially played fingerdrumming part and then other instruments?
@TheQuestforGroove2 жыл бұрын
This one was actually just me filming myself for 5 minutes while improvising a couple of grooves. I listened back and found these 16 bars that were really nice so I used those and then played everything else over them. This one was done without a click, but sometimes I do first record a smaller loop to a click (4 bars or so) to get the feel, then copy paste that as the guide track, record all the instruments and then re-record the drums. Right now I think building on top of an improvisation is the most fun way, but I use both methods!

Thank you! I enjoy singing a lot, but like most people I don't really like my own recorded voice that much. I did learn some tricks over the years to make it sound good in a recording though, so nowadays I just go for it :-)

It would be amazing if you can share that secrets, I'd be really grateful. Right now I'm recording my ep and I'm struggling really bad with my voice hahah

Yaaay! 7 years, what a journey! Congrats, Rob! I've been hitting the pads for 2 months now and although the road can be bumpy sometimes, I'll have my 7 years anniversary with finger drumming in the future for sure! Keep up the good work, you're awesome!

congrats mate! finger drumming - still a field to develop and to make more mainstream, with a lot of potential
@TheQuestforGroove3 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks! I figured some time ago that besides making tutorials I also really had to start demonstrating the 'real world' possibilities of finger drumming. So not just as some cool circus trick but as a functional way to help with songwriting and recording actual songs in the (home) studio. That's the whole reason this thing started for me and I hope to inspire more musicians to start learning this stuff if they see me make use of a pad controller this way. KZbin seems to not like this content as much as for example gear reviews, but I'm not giving up on it yet!

You like the machine over the mpc1?
@TheQuestforGroove3 жыл бұрын
Yes, right now I do. I really like the pad sensitivity of the Maschine, whereas the pad quality of akai devices nowadays seems to vary a bit. Not that the mpc 1 will be bad, just not as reliable as my maschine is my guess.
@dingleberrypie66123 жыл бұрын
That's awesome. Some day I'll get one. What is the thing you were playing the horns on?
