Tried to order replacement pads from MPC stuff for my MK2, and shipping to Europe is like 60$, and then there will be import tax too so for 120-150$ I will just skip it, because it's not worth, and I won't buy it anymore.

Watching your video as an engineer (hw & sw) and your description of the differences between devices, even of the same type, triggered quite some bells in my head. Very, very good feedback and method of evaluating devices. As a company I’d hire you as a product tester. 👍

Haha thank you, I'd be willing to make time to do something like this for a company serious about building the best and most responsive pads. It does not seem to be the most important thing driving sales unfortunately.

Since I lost my Roland R70, never finger drumming again. But, this Yamaha FGDP is quite interesting if it has functions such as: rolls, repeat, after touch, positional pad, etc. Thank you for sharing your playing style.

Hi. How to open "Native Instruments Maschine MK3 Control Panel" on mac?
@zhv306212 күн бұрын
I just picked this up Used. First time Synthesizer user, I initially bought the MicroBrute but I saw this on sale (black friday) and have been wanting a Launchpad or something to finger drum on. Any thoughts? bad mix? Doesnt matter? Only started, almost everyone said to get the MicroBrute as a "Beginner Synth", got it, sounds "nice" still a WIP but I was really lacking finger drumming so I saw this and just Ordered it on a whim, as an early Christmas present to myself.

Is this a good match for looping? I have the hand Sonic 10 which I currently use, but something with a smaller footprint might be a little fun and practical.
@TheQuestforGroove11 күн бұрын
There is no built in looping function but you can obviously use it with a looper in many ways.

When u conect it to a computer do u need to set it up or it's just plug and play as I just bought the exact same keyboard but I don't have any use to the knobs on the top even when I use serum they don't do anything
@TheQuestforGroove11 күн бұрын
It usually does not work fully out of the box. They keys often work but to control parts of the DAW with knobs and buttons you need to set it up in the DAW.

I've been finger drumming my whole life as a phenotype of ADHD so having an instrument built from the ground up to do just that is pretty awesome, especially with the built-in speaker and sounds. I love how much more I can get done with the computer but I hate how much more easy it is to get distracted or derailed by analysis paralysis. I'm somehow more creative with less options, and the FDGP 50 gives me that right out of the box, with the added functionality of being able to plug it into a computer later when the idea evolves into something more. And the big "space bar" style pads for the kick and snare work perfect for my style of finger drumming, which comes from banging on my desk in school as a kid. The traditional pad setup on every other controller is too small for how I naturally want to play. This is why I started looking at the Roland Handsonic, which I was just about to buy until I found the FDGP 50. I like all the extra bells and whistles of the Handsonic but they're not worth the extra $900. I'm going to use the FDGP 50 which also has hand drum kits for African, Egyptian, and Indian music and feed it into my Boss RC-505 loop station. They've got a Black Friday sale running for $60 off. At that price, I can't say no. It's also interesting that only the 50 is on sale. Not the 30. It makes me think Yamaha is going to leave the 30 behind and make the 50 the entry level model with a new and improved 70 coming next year or the year after. I think this series is going to be a dark horse game changer!

Believe it or not I've been playing real drums for YEARS and the Moeller technique never made much sense to me when explained ,nor felt ergonomic at all - YET - the way you just explained it was so conscise and accurate (even though it was even the focus of the conversation) that I tried it on the table right here and it worked for the first time...! Thank you for inadvertantly helping me unlike a technique that can be amazing when applied properly!

I’ve try to play drum with my MPD218 for last few years after i found this channel. Finally i upgrade to Maschine MK3 Mikro and i should say i can play now how i want. Sensitivity of the device makes a huuuge difference. Thank you again for the path and inspiration
@TheQuestforGroove27 күн бұрын
Yes absolutely. With jazz you still have a lack of real dynamics compared to an actual drum kit which I found a bit frustrating for finger drumming, but you can definitely play some good swing on the pads.

Would you say that the Roland hand percussion one is much better in terms of sensitivity (maybe due to larger surface areas as well)? I always wanted to try that one but it's expensive and I am not that much of a drummer but always curious on ways to add more humanization to rhythms. I really like the price of these though... was disappointed to hear that the minimum sensitivity isn't that great. Any feedback is appreciated!

Many Thanks, I actually bought the new sensor sheet from MPC, but didnt end up using it as after a really good clean of the sensor contact pcb with isopropyl alcohol everything worked great. Thanks for the breakdown it gave me the confidence to take my MK3 apart.

Just got my MPD218 and the problem I've encountered is opposite to most comments here: the pads are too insensitive. Normal tapping won't trigger pads at all. Instead I have to tighten my wrist and arm to gain enough strength to produce the sound. Much harder force required than playing the piano at the max volume. I don't know if it's the normal behavior of a pad controller since it's my first device. I'd like to know what is the normal level of sensitivity. Have tried all methods mentioned here, including unscrewing and applying layers of tapes, but pads just seem as dull as before.

Why did you expect the mikro mk3 to be a game changer when you already had the mk3?
@TheQuestforGrooveАй бұрын
A gamechanger in the sense of a cheaper, more compact device with the same great pad response. That said, nowadays with the latest firmware the Mikro mk3 is almost as sensitive. This video is old and does not represent my current opinion on what to buy.

The best way to fix it is to just return it. In 2024 these are now useless, nothing helps. I just bought an mpd226, that's $150 in the garbage.
