I do not think you have correctly addressed the problem-- which is, not hustle per se, but whether or not it is worth it. Considering that this statement is made by Mr. Murthy whose firm pays wages similar to 2000s, people will question if this is worthy of being paid for 40h while hustling for 70. But I do agree with the second half of your message. Hustle is important, provided one is doing that for oneself and not slogging for others.

there are many youths who are not getting jobs. In my college 60% people were placed just because of infosys , tcs ,wipro etc. people dont understand infosys hire freshers with 0 skills and make their career lot of people in last decade are earning high now because of infosys,tcs etc. I myself owe tcs for making my career i now make 30lpa just because of tcs it started my career at 3.2lpa and was having 0 skills tcs helped me in training and made me skilled many of my batchmates in mechanical eng are still struggling to make 30k-40k who took core job path after 7 years of graduation now they regret of not joining tcs,infosys etc in 2015

You should definitely hustle and try to push yourself harder. But not for your employer, for yourself. We shouldn't put more efforts for our employers than what we are paid for. Getting paid for 8 hours and putting 12 hours of effort is stupidity. Instead you should put the remaining 4 hours on your own business/startup/side gigs whatever.

When we hustle, it is not about how much time we can denote for a work, it is about how much work we can do in a given specific amount of time. Even a marathon runner tries to finish his race as fast as possible but his time taken will be obviously much more than a sprinter. When we go to gym, not only does our time in the gym gradually increases but also capacity to lift weights. Similarly a programmer, in the beginning, will take aome time to complete a project but after a while he will be able to complete it sooner and probably even better than first time. Hence giving him more time to complete bigger projects.

What these officials are implementing a structure in the name of HUSTLE to work 10hrs/day in offices with 2-3 hours of actual work, rest in the silly dump stuff to waste the precious time to not let people to think for themselves both morally and professionally, thus making INDIAN youth more unemployed and ethically immorale. Companies never approve most employees leave neither they are paid well a freshers salary in india is still 2-3LPA which is ridiculously low. Murthy is not wrong though. After WW2 the Americans, Germans, Japanese, Chinese and Russians really worked their a\*\* off to make their country advanced. Especially Chinese really worked hard. Look how advanced the Chinese are today, everything they have is indigenous Chines. People will say Chinese copy but copying also needs understanding of facts and science. Today they have their own 5th gen fighter jets, their own bullet trains, their country infrastructure is close to US level, and they have their own artificial and sun and moon. No doubt they spend way more on R&D. In INDIA we always need the help of someone. The first Indian-made aircraft carrier took 20 years which is a lot (although we are very proud of it no doubt) and we cannot even make fighter jet engines on our own. Most of our fighter jets contain re-engineered russian, American and British jet engines. India needs until 2036 to even make their own 5th gen fighter jets and at that time it'll be old and already other countries developing 6th gen. Is it believable that a country containing full of bright engineers is so lacking in R&D sector. Although politics and government funding is also big cause as only working 70hrs/week will not give results without money. But I see today's youths doing tiktok and making reels and are more attentive towards social trends, what is going on SRK's life, what galiyan carryminati giving and all these things. It is not so long ago China also gained independence within the timeframe of Indian independence but they surpassed us by a lot. Americans really did a lot of R&D and today is leading the world. Russians, Japanese also got so advance so quickly. Although a lot is happening with INDIA today and it is not like INDIA is completely behind but yeah it is lacking a lot still and delays in every ambitious project are making it worse.

Good perspective. Working maximum hours is not maximum productivity. Producing maximum result with minimum effort is a real productivity. However, the work culture in many of the Indian companies is lazy, where employees are present for 9hrs but work for only 4 to 5hrs. Considering this situation, I think, Mr. Murthy said is somewhat correct. I'll explain why! I agree to the point that Indian employees at first need to be more disciplined towards their work. For that, it is required to have concentrated focus without any distractions while working. And this can be achieved only by practicing more and more, in other words working more and more. Hence, Indian youth should work more hours, so that less time is spent on unnecessary distractions. Once the habit of disciplined and focused work is formed, then work life balance, mental peace can be discussed, ultimately leading towards optimum productivity. In India, the youth under stress is not majorly by over-working, but by over-thinking, not having clarity, and not being discipline towards their work and health.
