6:48 is that it's tounge out like that. And if it is, will it survive like that?
@mT_51418 сағат бұрын
@drdizzly it's not the tongue, it's an airbladder that's expands with air as the fish comes up from the depth, due to pressure changes. The captain and fishing boat by law have to keep a tool that releases the air in the bladder, like a balloon.. that way they can safely release the fish and to better ensure it survives
@DiabetoDan16 сағат бұрын
@ that's not the air bladder, it's their stomach. The air bladder inflating inside them pushes their stomach up through their mouth.

Venting isn’t the way to go. Descending device is the way to go, especially that depth.
@itscatina62216 сағат бұрын
What’s a descending device and what’s the major difference between venting how he does?
@DiabetoDan14 сағат бұрын
Descending device is a weighted rig that you tie onto a rod, with a pressure-sensitive fish grip. You clip the rig onto the fish, lower them down to a depth where their internal pressure re-equalizes, and the clip pops open so they can swim away. Shown to have a much higher survival rate than venting, and way less prone to user error (with venting, it's quite easy to stab the fish in the wrong place). Descenders take more time but are waaaaay better for the fish. @@itscatina622
@DiabetoDan14 сағат бұрын
@ My comment seems to have been deleted. A descender will carry a fish down to a set depth on a clip, then release it there (whole setup is tied onto a heavy rod and reel). Much higher survival rate post-release than venting, and less possibility for user error since you can easily stab a fish in a bad place with a venting tool.
