Early 70's skins were the real deal born from the 60's suedeheads plus early the Jamaican influx into Britain and their style of clothing and obviously the early ska and reggae tunes formed the backbone of what it was to be a skinhead. The late 70's saw the right wing party (NF) influencing what was then a generation of skins that loved football hooliganism and an idiotic right wing philosophy - which contradicted the originality of what being a skinhead was all about.

Dear o dear you really don't know what you're talking about. I was around in the 70's and 80's and one thing I know is the Suedeheads came after the Skinheads, and also right wing politics and certainly football hooliganism played a part in the culture in the early 70's. The right wing element was definitely worse in the 80's but the NF did recruit a fair few Skinheads from about 1970. Also the bashing of South Asians and Hippies was like a sport among the original Skinheads.

@lucatricky1457 Жыл бұрын
late 70's early 80's they got along with many mixed bands, half punks and half skins so called Skunx, bands like Blitz, Anti Social, Attak, Ejected, Crux, Infa Riot, Violators and many more had both punks and skins followers. Earlier bands Like Sham 69, Menace, Angelic Upstarts, Cock Sparrer and Cockney were originally punk rock bands with Skinehads following, but no Skinhead outlook. By 1983 /1984 the two scenes split apart because politic issues had become heavy influential, so no more shows with both punk/hardcore and OI! bands on the same bill. Also bands like Exploited, One Way System, Peter & The Test Tube Babies were considered almost OI! bands, then you had the Crust Anarcho Punks scene of the like of Crass, Amebix, Conflict...another thing...

Things have evolve since the 60's you know. I have never meet a skinhead over the last 30 years that didnt have a handful of punk/Oi records in their record collection.

Strangely Skinheads in the 60's were into Ska, Reggae, and Slade, they went mad on just that one rock group.

Skinheads don't listen to Punk, wow that's a new one. So, all the Skinheads who have been listening to Punk music since 1977 are what figments of the imagination? Glad there is still people like you in the scene writing rules for everyone else.

@@wolflarson6831 I was referring to the original skins who started in the late sixties and early seventies. I’m not stupid enough to think that the later ones didn’t listen to punk. I was there in 76 when punk started.

@@Mod-rw9cw Then why even make your original comment? The title of the video is 70's/80's English Skinheads. I don't think anyone is stupid enough to think 60's Skinheads listened to Punk. I am old and remember 76 as well, as if that matters.
