I told you before about something that the fishermen taught me. Now I come with something that you have just seen, whether you know it or not, whenever you enter an anchorage, if there are dolphins swimming in front of you, follow them, they are showing you the way. And where they start to slow down and swim in circles, that's where you drop your anchor, that's the best place to anchor.

Hi guys; I always had a small bilge pump sitting in the well of my dingy connected to a small tractor battery. It was charged when the outboard was running and worked quite well even underway. Consider setting that up. You won’t be disappointed. Love your show.

Cool idea! We usually hoist the dinghy and pull the plug but sometimes laziness gets around to us. Thank for sharing! Might have to use that someday 🙂

Fantastic channel! It's truly refreshing to witness genuine sailing without dramatizing waves under 3 feet and winds below 20 knots, especially when compared to other cruisers. As a fellow racer, it's commendable to see you pushing the boat to its limits rather than handling it with excessive caution.

Everywhere you all go in Patagonia it is ruggedly beautiful. Roxy sure had fun stretching her legs and playing. Kate's editing and choice of music was great, and Curtis's narration was excellent. The dolphins were magical. Yall keep having fun, stay warm and stay safe. Bill

Hi, I just saw this episode on your out of gas issue. I think that maybe the problem is when you sail with less gas, because of the narrow and large design of the tanks the system gets air due to the heel. I own a J105 and it has happened to me more than once. I live in Chile and have sailed in Chiloe many times but never in winter. It's incredible what you have done. If you come to the central coast you can stay in Algarrobo, where i would be very pleased in receiving you in our marina where you can have have a very safe and beatiful mooring.

Just can’t believe where ever you go, you have the whole place to yourselves. Always so peaceful and serene. I can tell you, you aren’t missing anything. Let’s see, since you been sailing the world you’ve missed out on Covid 19, the war in Ukraine, the war in the Middle East, the crazy election scandal, and the list goes on and on. Can’t wait for your next big crossing, the Pacific. Do you have plans to go down under or stay north and sail the Indian ocean? Where ever you go we will follow. ❤️🙏🏼🕉☯️☮️

Sometimes, not always, it is possible to get diesel by radio, call and a station on the coast or another boat that can sell you, or even give you, some cans of diesel.

If u let an Diesel engine run dry from fuel starvation - it is not just to fill the tank from a jerrycan and start - you must bleed the system before it can even start, was this a click beit? Anyway i like to follow u up the Chilean channels...
@SailingSweetRuca
@SailingSweetRuca Жыл бұрын
If you hear the RPMs start to drop and are smart you shut it down asap and don’t try to restart. We did open the tank inspection, change our primary filter, and prime/bleed the engine before re-start, we were just a little busy sailing and working to film it ;-) The cameras were all put away because we thought it would be just boring motoring!

Curtis & Kate: Shame on you for the click bait! Sounded like you ran out of fuel with 700 miles to go and had a real emergency on your hands, but in reality you had plenty on board, it just wasn't in the tank when you needed it.
