That banjo bolt looked like a nightmare, but good job getting it out! I can't wait to see the rebuild of the PCV!!

Never thought I'd say this but I'm jealous of your smaller engine 😔 my pcv failed on my 2004 T6 and the manifold has been a nightmare and still don't have the throttle body freed. Waiting on a gasket anyways so I've spent DAYS looking for anything and yours is the closest to a guide for mine I've found but still no luck since yours is *much* more accessible 😭

The intake manifold was a challenge to remove. The lower left bolt was really difficult to reach (though I cut out a lot of attempts from the video). I think I used a combination of wobble socket extensions to make it work. For the throttle body I think my small hands may have helped, but I had a hard time separating the intake boot from it. I'm not sure how much better than reaching from the side it would be, but have you tried to reach it from underneath? You might need to remove the skid plate for access.

Great job bro!! Like your video very much. Where are you bro? I also just bought this xc90 but i have a problem with my rear seat infotainment, the lcd not turn it on.

I'm in the USA! I think one of my rear entertainment screens also does not turn on, but I haven't tried to find the issue yet. I think the first thing to check would be the fuse for the system, then the connections in the center console.

Great job! What diagnostics pointed you to clean up the pcv system next?

Thanks! On this engine, it's a fairly common issue, and the presence of oil on the top of the engine and in the cylinders was one indicator. There were also signs of pressure in the crankcase with the oil fill cap removed. In the next video you'll be able to see just how gunked up things got!

Great video! So i have the same vehicle 2006 Volvo XC90 V8 AWD, with just over 205,000 miles. I recently changed the oil, which i should have done much sooner, but now i have a very loud whistling sound coming from what sounds like the upper right of the engine area, havent used a stethoscope tho so i could be wrong. When i pull the oil cap when its running it stops, is the pcv valve/ breather box the most likely culprit? Ive done general maintenance but anything to do with the engine makes me nervous to work on. Any ideas would be extremely grateful, thanks in advance man and keep on keepin on.

Hi, and thanks for watching! Since you have the V8, the engine is really different (it was developed by Yamaha!). It looks like the PCV valve is in the top right of the engine (behind the throttle body), so the PCV system is a possibility. On FCP Euro's PCV valve kit for your car, they list some symptoms of PCV failure, and a whistling sound that stops when the oil cap is removed is one of them. You can also check if you feel air coming out with the oil cap off. The job looks like it's just replacing two hoses and the valve, but to access them you do need to remove the upper part of the intake and replace the gaskets when you reinstall it (the gaskets are part of the kit). It does look like it's more accessible than on the I5 since it's all from the top side. I would suggest seeing if you can find a guide for the procedure on the V8 that includes tightening torques so you can decide if you want to attempt it!

How much time did it take to get off?

I think I did the whole PCV service over the course of two days
