And to think that some 60 odd years ago, 297 doomed steam locomotives passed through Canton on their way to Woodhams Brothers, a few miles down the track in Barry. That 213 were subsequently rescued is a testament to the preservationists and the deep, engrained love Britain holds for its steam heritage. Great video...

I know the boys at Canton and they invited me in to make the video. It's taken quite a while to build up friendships with the " right people and friends" Glad you enjoyed my hobby

Whenever I see Britannia’s shed code I always think it should be 30A Stratford which she wore when she was first allocated to the Eastern Region . She really is a beautifully turned out loco . These videos showing us what goes on behind the scenes are fascinating . Excellent production .

We happened to have been on this very excursion down from Crewe. The whole event was absolutely brilliant, fantastic service, wonderful scenery all in all a very polished event. Really pleased you posted this as we wondered what would be happening during our four hours in the city. Excellent publication, thank you.

Great video. Does anybody know why they don't turn engines in Cardiff? Isn't there a triangle around Canton depot?
@TheMichaelWilcock2016Railways5 жыл бұрын
The configuration is not connected to suit turning, so I believe. That's why they go to Newport

I was disappointed that they ran for so long this time; previously a different team in the depot didn't let them sound for so long

Surely a burst of the loco's whistle and the noise of it approaching would be enough, much like a diesel with horn and rattling engine. Beautiful beast none the less.
