I'm hoping Rood Ashton Hall will haul the train one day. I have the Shakespeare Express train set, with Rood Ashton Hall in model form, so I've got the train in miniature. Rood Ashton Hall is a new favourite GWR steamy of mine, and I haven't even met her in the flesh for myself.

Beautiful and so much nicer without a diesel on the back. I though all mainline steam hauled trains were required to have contingency diesel back up. Has something changed recently?

No, nothing has changed. This route is close to the operators base and the operational side is rather straight forward. There are some trips that will need a diesel and some that don't. Diesels on the back have become more prevalent but have not yet become mandatory.

Lovely thanks. Ignorant question from an Australian - is there something about a Castle or this Castle's setup that makes the exhaust beats in the early part of this sound almost like a 2 cylinder engine with a bit of echo? By the 6 minute mark its a well defined four cylinder beat but early on had me confused.
